So, I don't live in Louisiana anymore, but when I visit I love to go to Louisiana Lagniappe. Probably my favorite restaurant in BR. I'm blown away by everything, but I freaking love the sensation salad that they make. Does anyone have the recipe for the salad that they prepare? I'd like to make it at home. Thanks.

I can’t help with their recipe but I’ve found this to be the best at home dressing
Hanley’s

I’d bet someone has a recipe to make the dressing

It's as simple as that.

The original recipe uses "salad oil" (basically plain vegetable oil). I always use a decent olive oil instead.

Costco sells a good sensation dressing. Not sure if you can find someone to send it to you to try out.

I little bit of blue cheese in the dressing really makes it shine

This is basically my recipe. I use olive oil.

Mine also calls for 1/4 c chopped fresh parsley and 1/4 c of blue cheese.

Shake everything but the cheeses in a jar.

Dress salad (I use iceberg/romaine mix) and then toss cheeses in.

I dont think the blue cheese is traditional, but the salad turns out great.

I am asked to bring this salad to functions so often that I am sick of making it.

Yet I would eat a large bowl this second…

Pretty much the same here, but I usually go half EVOO and half vegetable oil. I also add 1/4 cup white vinegar as well as some freshly cracked salt and black pepper.

Sensation dressing has specific ingredients. I love olive oil and blue cheese, but adding those and/or vinegar are variations on a theme. I’m sure that makes a good vinaigrette though.

Old thread

The one submitted to the Tiger Bait cookbook by Jake Staples is the one I use.

Thanks guys. Looks like I have some experimenting to do as there appears to be 15 different variations of this.
