I find Scotch to be much smoother than Bourbon. I can sip on straight Scotch and enjoy it, not so much with Bourbon.

I for one am willing to put his thesis to the test with thorough independent research.

Midleton Very Rare
Knappogue Castle
Kilbeggan

I bought a bottle of Kilbeggan 18 duty-free on my way home from my last Ireland trip and it was among the best whiskeys I've tried, but I still wouldn't put it up with my favorite scotches.

most scotch taste like and is as smooth as bad gasoline

even cheap burbon still tastes good

some of the better top end scotch is worth buying and quite good but the majority is trash

a good high end burbon is light years better then any high end scotch

its like with anything, some brands are better then others depending on price point that determines quality

well this is obviously all subjective, but give me a dram of Lagavulin 16 over any Pappy-van-whatever kentucky swill any day.

Depends on the weather for me. I prefer bourbon when it’s hot but Scotch otherwise. However nothing beats a high end scotch like Lagavulin 16.

If you drink a glass of scotch and follow it with a glass of bourbon; you'll think the bourbon is tasteless.... just saying

As the OP of this thread, I will agree to this. Cheap bourbon is better than cheap scotch.

Cheap scotch is just BAD!!!

I cannot stand being drunk, so I am not a heavy drinker. Two or three glasses a couple times a month is all I do, other than a beer for dinner when eating out.
So I will buy the higher end scotch, which is the nector of the gods. High end bourbon tastes a lot like the mid range stuff, its just smoother.

Furthermore, good bourbon tops out at around ~$50 a bottle.

That's about when Scotch starts getting good.

If you buy a $200 bottle of Scotch, chances are there's a reason and you'll be able to taste it.

$200 Bourbon, well...I haven't had any that I'd say was worth it.

$200 for Bourbon is a crime. And I agree that Cheap bourbon is better than cheap Scotch.

Price is a direct result of how long it’s been aged. You’ll lose about 2% per year to evaporation in the barrels.

Longer aging period, more lost, but same cost to produce that smaller yield so the price per bottle goes up.

Disagree... to me nothing beats a nice smooth well balanced bourbon. To me for some reason it's more versatile....there is almost no situation I wouldn't want a glass of bourbon...summer, winter, Saturday night, Tuesday after work...gimmie a bourbon. Scotch tends to feel like something I want given a certain dinner or setting...or the winter..I always crave scotch in the winter.
But taste is subjective so I'm also not calling you wrong lol
