Guy I used to work with would bring a box of pastries into the office from Tartine about once a month. He lived in the Mission and he'd get there before they opened and wait in line, showing up at the office with a box of warm pastries. I'd knock my wife over if she got between me and a hot morning bun from that place. They are fricking awesome.
they are fricking awesome - i ate three breakfasts in that place. in one morning

definitely spend some days in wine country. i just got back from my 1 year anniversary and we did 2 days in san francisco and 3 in napa. stayed at the marc hopkins on knob hill (got it on priceline for $115 a night) then rented a car and drove up to napa for the next 3 days. we found san francisco a bit boring (did the whole fishermans wharf golden gate things to do in a day) never made it out to alcatraz though.
if anyone has any other questions feel free to email me at cetiger07@gmail. enjoy!

Restaurants I like in San Fran: Tadich Grill and Silks in the Financial District. Sia's for Vietnamese. I think Zinnia just shout down but if open, check it out...

We went back to SF (we lived there when we got engaged) for our 5th anniversary and had a great time. We stayed at the Orchard Garden hotel and really enjoyed that area of town. Our big dinner was at Boulevard, but we ate several other unforgettable meals. Y'all are going to have a blast.

If you like to eat, you have to go to the Ferry Terminal. If you're there on a Saturday and you like to eat, you're a fool if you don't go to the Ferry Terminal farmer's market. In addition to the produce/meat vendors, there will be a bunch of vendors selling stuff ready to eat: breakfast, hamburgers, porchetta sandwiches, etc. It's incredible. I can't think of a single place in that building (stuff that's there all the time, not just during the FM) that sucks.
Absolutely confirm. Spent all day there last time I was in town.

If you want good Italian, I have always liked Perbacco in the Financial District, A16 in the Marina, SPQR on Fillmore
All good. I knew the A16 people when they opened. One of staff moved there from N.O.

If you want classic SF seafood, go to Tadich Grill
I love it. A must on every trip to SF.

The St. Frances Hotel on Union Square is very nice and close to lots of great food. There were lots of hookers walking around when I was there but you probably will not interested in that.

Zombie, SF can be an overload
We went to Gary Danko, The House (awesome fusion), Slanted Door. All great. Definitely go to the Ferry Building for cheese and oysters.
I've never been but I know you're gastronomically inquisitive so go to Chris Cosentino's Incanto

Oh yeah, I would mos def try and check out the Ferry Building on Thursday if you are there. Tons of venders selling crazy good food set up there.
AND, make sure to peep the street food scene. Peep this website: [link=( https://www.sfcartproject.com/sfstreetfood)]LINK[/link] or holla at me and I can give you the 411. There are events a few times a week called OFF THE GRID where a dozen or so street food sellers gather. On thursdays there is one right by Golden Gate park.

I'm heading to SF in June for a conference, but I'll be flying solo. Any thoughts on spots with a bar? I'll eat at a bar by myself with no problems.

Absolutely. And beware of the black dude that jumps out from behind the plant.
I totally forgot about that guy. It's fun to watch other people get scared by him.
And, I am a total sucker for Boudin Sourdough restaurant and their breadbowls. Completely tourist-y but yummy in my opinion.

I stayed at the Hyatt last year and it was nice. No complaints at all. We did have a car and it was nice to be able to see stuff on the outskirts of town. Went to a winery one day and one of the giant tree parks as well. Parking was hard in a few spots but we had a handicapped pass from a friend for the weekend which helped. It was also nice to use when we went to a game in Oakland. If you don't plan on leaving the city you probably don't need it.

check out Belden Place, its an alleyway in the financial district which has about 10 restaurants with outdoor seating. has a very European feel and some great food
