I don’t understand the ownership there. Place is typically packed.

As our lease has come to an end, the property owners have chosen to move in a different direction. We respect their decision, are grateful for the many years we called Highland home, and are excited for what comes next.

Our last day of business at the Highland location will be Sunday, June 14th. Over the next week, we invite you to stop by, enjoy your Sammy’s favorites and help us give Highland the sendoff it deserves.

While the Highland location is closing, we’re actively searching for a new home. Until then, come see us at our Prairieville location and continue supporting the Sammy’s family.

Went south in a hurry after the judge (rip) fiasco.

I feel like the heyday of Sammy’s was early 90’s to mid 2000’s.

Jason left.

Quality went down hill.

Sammy wanted to expand and made some bad hires.

Sammy went broke and had to sell off the building to stay open.

Stabler inherited a crappy building (expensive plumbing problems) and new landlord supposedly wouldn't fix it.

The judge fiasco was a minor bump on the way down. I sure miss Mike.

The fried cheese will be missed. How is the Prarieville location? I've not been to that one.

I liked Sammy's in college. Went there Friday night before a football game either this year or last and it was basically empty and it was a below average experience. Sad

The guy that brought it back is the same one that gave away his other restaurants I guess he’s retiring and no one wanted to run it

Crazy how quickly they built out without losing quality, then completely lost quality and went corporate with cheesy drinks and terrible food.

seems like a lot of these generic (I don't mean that in a negative way) South Louisiana bar and grill type of places are really struggling lately.

Sad to hear. Used to love this place.

Grill sandwich or crawfish in the bar is a fond memory.

Anyone on here recall Joe Reed’s (lounge) being there in the early ‘70’s?

What is the point of having a separate “property owner” when the restaurant has been there for 40 years? Should belong to them at that point.

I think some will stand the test of time (Phils, George's Southside, Brewbachers), but overall I think the younger generations just aren't enamored with fried seafood platters and poboys like the older folks were.

These places also tend to not be the best version of what they offer. Don't get me wrong. I am a huge George's Southside fan... because I like the staff, the regulars, and sitting at the bar with a Miller Lite wrapped in a napkin. In no world is their burger or club sandwich the best in town.

Recall when the back was all just screen porch

Boiled shrimp the size of your head and could smell it down the road

White beans and catfish, shrimp poboys

Best cheese sticks

Younger generation would rather door dash and sit at home

Nah, mine like going to trendy restaurants with Instagram worthy photo ops. Photos are #1, the food is second priority.
