If true...a damned shame. Great fricking pizza, but service was lacking at times.

I went a month ago for the first time, and was shocked at how good the pizza was. Actually bummed it closed.

Was really some of the best n BR, IMO. We really liked it, just hate goin around the mall so rarely ate there.

Rocca has become one of BRs best pies now... albeit not as casual as Grimaldi’s

Baton Rougeans have no clue what good pizza is. Places like Mama Dellas and Grimaldis close, while the Papa Johns and Pizza Huts thrive.

I don't think those are substitute goods. I think $27 pizzas in Baton Rouge is a tough sell. That's coming from someone who really enjoyed Grimaldi's.

While I'm as big of a pizza snob as you'll find, Mama Dellas couldn't figure out what it wanted to be. If Rocca closes, I'll join the chorus of Baton Rouge not knowing good pizza.

Four square show 36 Pizza Huts and 42 Papa Johns in New York City, arguably the best pizza city in the country. Shitty pizza is everywhere.

Grimaldi’s closed because of a crappy location with a crippling overhead and price point out of line for the product.

Mama Dellas closed because of a bat shite crazy, abusive owner who didn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground.

Baton Rouge doesn’t have a monopoly on crazy, dumbass restaurant owners or expensive real estate rents.

Red Zeppelin, Rocca, Roma and I’ll even add Ruffino’s and DiGuilios to the list of good pizza in BR.

And that was their problem. Good product but WAY overpriced.

Arzi's in the mall of Louisiana closed too.. So did the Godiva chocolatier. Not good. So I wouldn't take a mall store closing as a sign of a lack of good taste. It's that malls aren't the attraction they once were. And it's not just Baton Rouge, it's nationwide.

This is all about location. When I want to go out for pizza, I don't want to fight the traffic and clusterfrick that is going to that area by the mall.

The turnover from restaurants in that area has been constant.

I think it was more a location issue than anything else. We went a few weeks ago and it was closed. But, it certainly isn't the only place closing its doors at the mall. Several stores closed right after the new year as well.

People who spend money just aren't going to malls anymore. And people who want pizza other than Papa John's aren't going to venture out to the mall to get it.

It's a shame, because it was good (albeit expensive) pizza

We enjoyed Grimaldi’s. It was always empty when we’d go. Not sure how it lasted as long as it did, frankly.
