Flor de Cana, its Nicaraguan and somewhat widely available. They have a 18 year and a 25 year that are amazing neat or with 1 block of ice. Plus its pennies on the dollar of what a good 18 year or 25 year bourbon costs.

Also, if traveling overseas duty-free rum on the way home is one of your best bangs for the buck.

Just bought some.

Very smooth, but kind of lacking in flavor...

I did put in a cube and a lime twist so I'll try it without either later on.

It’s delicate and very much like a Rhum Agricole.

The El Dorado 15yr will probably be much more of what you’re looking for. Strong molasses profile

Will check that out next. Both were about $40 and Matusalem 15 for about $35.

I'm bumping this to prove to TD I know how to use the search function.

For mixes: Sailor Jerry, Cpt Morgan Spiced, Gosling's Black Seal (for a Dark N Stormy), Bacardi Silver

For sipping: Ron Zacapa, Diplomatico

I thought this was a new thread and ended up liking my own comment about Zacapa

I still need to try Diplomatico, El Dorado and Matusalem. Guess I'll be making a liqour store run later.

Love rum

Bayou Rum select is excellent on the rocks
Bayou Spiced is good enough to drink straight.
Bayou Coffee Rum Liquor is an excellent alternative to Kahlua
Black Magic is my go-to dark run

Appleton Estate is probably the closest to top shelf I've had so I lack credibility, but I like keeping Bayou Spiced on the shelf. I enjoy it on the rocks and bonus factor of patronizing a Louisiana distillery.

I've only tried the Bayou Spiced but I like it a lot. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you like bananas.

ABC Store on Hollywood in Mountain Brook had it. The ABC Store in Pelham had it too. Pelham is the supply point for all the restaurants in Bham. They will have stuff that the other stores won't.

I had forgotten about this. I used to work in Alabaster and on my way back home to Vestavia I would hit up the Pelham ABC. This was maybe 8-10 years ago, and I do remember there being more selection. And I was down there yesterday, missed an opportunity to stock back up. Especially now that the wife is drinking more liquor in this working from home mess. She's trying to lay off the beer and discovered Tito's.

I like sipping Santa Teressa, Plantation & Bumbu.

Have you tried Doorley's XO? About $20-25.

Is Pusser's Rum considered a top tier rum or is it too harsh and that's why we make Painkillers with it?

If you like rum and you like bourbon, pick up a bottle of Foursquare. I tried while passing through Barbados on our honeymoon 10 years ago and I’ve been drinking it ever since.

Sadly it’s become pretty popular with the bourbon crowd, so the price has shot up...I bought my first bottle for $20, now it’s $50-70.
