I recently (within a couple of years) discovered solera rum, specifically Venezuelan. I now prefer it over most bourbons and whiskeys. Here's a link describing the solera method:

Of the ones I tried, Zacapa is the best. If you can find it, buy it. You won't be disappointed.

I like a high quality rum neat in a Glencairn glass.

For me, ice kills the flavor.
