I heard this last night while at a restaurant with a few friends. The guy with the rumor even had a location. So, I google it and find this post on some odd message board:

I just heard yesterday that Rouses is building a store on Versailles Dr. In Alexandria, La

Then this on reddit:

quote:

I have it from a reliable source working within the Rouses Corp in Houma that the high end grocery group has purchased land on Highway 28 near the Rapides Coliseum to build out an entire new Rouses Grocery Store. It is what they call their “new concept” store complete with high end cheese and charcuterie, extensive wine and spirits, entertaining and patio dining balcony area, and fresh seafood and deli counters as well as pre-prepped meal essentials to go. They are breaking ground December of this year and should have the build-out completed in 4 months.

They recently finished and opened their new Prairieville store which will be the model for the new Alexandria Store.

Anyone here know anything?

So they picked Alexandra for it? Odd move.

well Alex has nothing close to that, so there would be no competition

Their new stores are much nicer than the remodeled ones when they've acquired another grocer. At least that's been my experience in BR.

I thought it was great when they were coming to prairieville and baton rouge area but they've been really disappointing. I wish Leblanc's was here had much better food.

Versailles is a good road for it. Grocery stores blow in alexandria so it should be a huge upgrade. But the problem with that town is all the workers suck so all places go downhill typically

That's not how you should test a new concept, then. You should test the concept against typical competition, so you have a good idea whether or not it will work generally.

Well I’m assuming the new Prairieville store they are commenting on is actually the Airline Antioch store which has been open a couple of years so this could be an old post.

But also if it is their new concept store than anyone who has been can see what is going to be like.

And - regardless of when they break ground no way in hell will they it complete in 120 days.

I’d like to see Alexandria get one though.

They're in full scale mode right now. I would assume it's true. Their new stores in Lake Charles are extremely nice.

There's definitely something going on there. Been moving dirt on the east side for a while now.

It would print money. Or they could plant money trees. Or both

That’s an odd way to describe Rouses.
