4 day weekend sale Boston butte 99 cents and spare ribs the same. Remember you can take a twin pack to the butcher in the back and they will cut the roasts any way you want. I like to get them sliced in to pork steaks and packaged 4 to the pack. I also get them to cut them into small strips great for the bbq or you can cube them for stew meat or jambalaya or drop the strips in your grinder. The ribs well what to say good price o spare ribs.

Yep, they have the blade bone in them and usually a fair size fat cap. You'll lose about 1 1/2 lbs. off the weight of a single roast once you trim the fat cap a bit and after it's smoked, pull the blade bone out.

I smoked one Monday to have for the Saints game Monday night that I had in my freezer and that was the last one I had on hand.

Looks like it's time to stock up with another couple for later use.

Same here I just used my last twin pack for a smoke.

I didnt know they would slice them into pork steaks and vac pack them for free tho, I may have to ask about that. Anyone know if they would open the pack and individually vac pack the butts? My vac bags are not big enough and I dont always need 2 of them at once.

Not to hijack the thread but I saw Albertsons will sell them for 98 cents Sat-Monday if that is more convenient.

If I am wanting them whole I'll get them anywhere I can for less than a dollar. When I want them cut I go rouses fro their free butcher service I love the pork steaks and they slice them outa a butte for ya. Same steaks in the store are usually 2 something a lb.

Don't know if they will vac pack the one not sliced but can't imagine why they would be hesitant to do it. Can't hurt to ask.

When I buy 2 of them in the cryovac packs I'll separate them and use Saran wrap to get them sealed as much as I can, they wrap them in heavy duty aluminum foil followed by freezer paper. I've done them this way for ages and they will hold in the freezer for as long as I need them before cooking. I've had them in my freezer for up to 6 months with no problem and I know they could go longer if needed.

Thats my way of making them fancier than they are. Ya dont have to vac them if you not keeping them more than a year or so they freeze very well We put one in a heavy zip loc bag and try to get as much air out as we can and just lob them in the freezer at our house they wont stay more than a month fore we will cook them and they fine.

You know technically, they're shoulders, and dogs LOVE the shoulder blade bone that you should be able to pull out with your hand after smoking.
But any who, Rouses Butchers are on duty everyday until 4pm, and can do anything to help, but they cannot vacuum seal. However they can double or triple wrap anything you need.

4 chances. 4 chances in 4 different months. 2 rotten pork butts, 1 rotten pork tenderloin, 1 rotten chicken over about a 6 month period.

And I mean rotten.

Actually 5 Times. Had the butcher debone one for me, a big picnic ham and when he brought it to me rewrapped it was funky and smelled the whole counter. I told him and he said “all pork smells like that.”

I told him I had an Uncle that went to LeLand College and I wasn’t anybody’s fool.

Brought back 2 and was told “ just go grab another.” Yeah no. Tossed the chicken and one pork butt. I knew better after the first time but man I wanted to like the store.
