Just saw on their Facebook page that Mr. Glen passed in a car accident last night. I no longer live in the BR area but I always enjoyed having lunch at the Stockyards. While I didn't know him personally, Mr. Glen always seemed like a very nice and funny man.

Someone go have some fried chicken there soon.

Yes this is confirmed. We are friends of the family, Glen has passed away, terrible auto accident near Fred's on the river yesterday. Not sure what this means for the future of the Stockyard. The main cook that has been there for years is getting pretty old and not sure if his daughters will try to keep it going. RIP Glen...

Damn the reports says he didn't have his seatbelt on. High possibility that that is what caused his death.

Jeez. I saw him sitting at his round table last Thursday when I passed by for lunch. Always with his circle of guys joking around.

Prayers for his family

I was already planning on going for lunch today. Are they going to be closed?

Per their FB page they are still going to be open today and encourage diners to come by to eat and offer condolences.

Although we have lost our rock, Glen Chamblee, we will be open for lunch today. Everyone is welcome to come by and give their condolences to his family. Please keep them in your prayers.

RIP

He was a really nice guy, very joyful and brought a lot of life to the place. Always came by and thanked us for coming and asked if he could get us anything

Always enjoyed interacting with him when our lunch crew made our near weekly visit. IMO, some of the best fried chicken in town. He would plop down and cut up when it wasn’t too packed, great guy.

Yep, we got some Fried Fish last Friday. The entire troop of workers there have been admirable in their efforts to keep it going. As long as Miss Evelyn keeps cooking all should be good, keep her happy!

I just found this post from last November. I met his sister Regina here in Denver back in 1991. We went out on a couple of dates, nothing serious. Tragically, she was killed here in Denver in 2010 by a drunk driver. Sad, but true.
