But they CAN! Doesn't matter if they should, or would. The word here is COULD.
Which is why I simply pointed out that you can't assume that their goofy donation start-up scheme has anything to do with how they're currently setting prices (and that in a business sense, there's no necessary reason it would), and for which you chose to slam me on.

For instance: say Domino's makes a pie for $2 and sells it for $6 MM makes a pie for $3 and sells it for $24
Im curious as to where you are getting these numbers.

We covered that earlier when I asked the same thing and made the point that Domino's isn't selling a 16" specialty pizza for $6.

There is a new hot dog place in Fat City, Fat City Franks or something like that. Their hot dogs get pricey too.

they're arbitrary numbers I used to make a point.
although, I wouldn't be surprised if those numbers were close .. I've read several places that the national chains operate at food cost even less than $2 .. something like 90 cents per pie one buddy told me.

They're probably thinking (and hoping) they can do the same as Dat Dog.
Regarding Fat City Franks...I hope the same place in Canada is ok with them using the same name. I'm not sure if trademarks on names carry over from one country to another?
And I just checked it out, and their prices are nuts too.
Banh Mi hot dog - Bratwurst, Sriracha Mayo, Cilantro, Jalapenos, Pickled Dikon Carrots $7.50
Fries - $3.00
Tea - $2.50
$16 after tax and tip. That's nuts.

I was referring to this Nik:
Im not disputing this, Im just curious where he is getting the numbers from.

I know at the big national chains a pizza chains it costs them about $2 to make a pizza.

Sam's will put all these pizza joints out of business.

Do you know how many places there are in the U.S. named Public House?

Fries - $3.00

mouton, basing it off of Google search and things I've heard from people when this has been brought up IRL

But you said they were just arbitrary numbers a minute ago?
Posted on 9/5/13 at 12:05 pm to pooponsaban
yes, they're arbitrary in the sense that they are my own suppositions, i.e. - didn't come from Domino's itself nor have I purported to possess any factual evidence.

Saying "I know" in reference to their costs doesnt jive with the above. Then again, you seem to "know" a lot about the inner workings of chain restaurants....

great, a semantics argument. I'll step away.

Looks like this thread might be coming to an end. Sad to see it go, as it's kept me entertained all morning.

All you have to do Nik is challenge something Rohan thinks he "knows" and he will argue forever. If he proven wrong he will just change the perameters of the argument.
