Does that answer my question?
High markups are everywhere. Why are you trying to single out pizza?
Oh my bad .. I thought this thread was about mattresses. Apologies.

His first post here was to poo poo the OP for reviewing a Caesar salad at Mellow Mushroom on Oak. This despite the fact that he doesn't eat Caesar Salad and has never been to said Mellow Mushroom.
I've had caesar salads before in my life, and I've been to other MM locations .. and chains are supposed to be known for their consistency across cities correct?

Now he's fixated on profit margins of pizza joints as if food cost is the only cost associated with selling pizza. It's the only fool proof business venture in America. Just open a pizza place and profit $12 a pizza.
I admitted earlier in the thread I was ignoring overhead to make a separate point.
jesus, is there a thread you troll where you DON'T get your arse handed to you?

Based on that, it's comparing the price of a 2 topping medium Domino's pizza to a 16" specialty pizza from sit down establishment.

I know you think you're really funny, but you've completely missed the point. If I was you, I'd continue deflecting as well.

It is dated 07 but it lends credence to his supposition.

$2.85 twenty years ago does not equal $2 today. And like you said...that really isn't the point.
This is exactly how you presented your response.
The answer I was suggesting from the link I provided, the first answer to the question said this.
quote:
I managed a Pizza Hut. A large pizza that sold for $14.99 cost around $2 to make. You have to factor in all sorts of things to arrive at a profitable figure though, not just the actual cost of the ingredients.
It was quoted in 2007.
Not sure why you chose the one response for $2.85 that is from a non franchise pizzeria.
We're not talking about mom and pop joints.

The point you are claiming to try to have made was never necessary. No one ever said pizza doesn't have high margins.

You're the one looking like a dumbass in this thread. You'll hopefully figure it out soon.

Sorry but I actually know someone that works at this MM and he just texted me to back up my point.

Texted you what? That their total overhead is equal to a Dominos? I'd love to see that.

Highly doubtful since you still aren't even arguing the right thing.

What does that even mean?

I'll venture a guess that it means that it costs Mellow $2 to make a pizza. Too bad that wasn't what the disagreement was over.

Great review. I may try it next time I'm hanging out in the Oak St area.
Re: chain salad dressings. I love Pizza Hut's creamy Italian and from time to time, I drop in on one to buy a cup or two of it.

You two
I've bartended and ran the books for two different local pizza places. I'm sure as hell not reading the silly banter, but would be glad to help answer questions regarding pricing.

MM locations here in ATL
I prefer Fellinis, Athens Pizza or Ciofis myself, but MM has a big following here.

Boy is that ever true. I often wondered if they were even franchises sometimes. Some are really dirty and the place is filled with stoners as employees.

Wit's Inn and Pizzicare are both solid options as well
Posted on 9/5/13 at 1:51 pm to Rohan2Reed
Unless he's the owner, someone who just works there does not know the cost of a pizza there. The cost is not just the cost of the ingredients. You have to add in overhead, labor, taxes, franchise fees, etc...and this will vary from location to location.
I've not tried Pizzicare yet, though I think it's a stupid name.
