It was in the shopping center on the corner of Jefferson/Corporate. I worked there for a little while back in the day during college.

Sucked that it closed. Anyone know why? I know the family also owns Portobello's, but I've never been there. Is it similar food?

Actually, I remember it in its earlier location, on Airline not too far from Siegen.

No idea why it closed, but it seems like Portobello's was a bit more casual IIRC.

I know it had to be there for a handful of years. I do remember now that they moved to that location from Airline.

Portobello's existed at the same time. I want to say like Dorothy mentioned that Ports was more of a casual place, where Kiva's had a little fancier feel.

EDIT: Yep, just changed it to second Portobello location.

I proposed to my wife at that restaurant. The story I always heard was that the old man retired and left it to his son, who runs portabellos. Loved the place at both locations, was a sad day for my wife and I when he hung it up.

Yeah, when I was at LSU Portobello's was across from Mike Anderson's and Kiva's was in Bocage. As I understood it, Kiva's was a little nicer and rightfully so for the area.

Yeah when I was there Kiva ran Portobello's and the old man (Ken) and his other son Steve were at Kiva's.

Used to work there in college. This was back in 05-06. Food was great..The owner Ken (Kiva's father), had been trying to retire for a few years before they closed the doors and changed the name to Portabello's. It definitely wasn't a bad place to work..money was damn good back in the day.

I liked when that spot was "Jacks" before Kivas. That was a frequent post-game LSU meal.

I remember when it was Airline near Jefferson. That building is still there, next door to the Mercedes dealership. I think its a Yamaha dealership now, pretty random.
