Get an electric one. The joy of cranking until you arm is about to fall off gets old pretty quickly.

White Mountain is the standard if you want to hand crank. My parents had one from the 70s that only lasted 35 years before it rusted thru. Replaced it with the same model....

I have a white mountain with the electric motor that is probably 30-40 years old and going strong.

I have one of these Cuisinarts. Got it on sale for $35 with two freezing pots. Works great, but doesn’t make a huge batch. Seems more expensive now. No need for ice or rock salt. Make ice cream much more often now than when I had to get ice and rock salt.

you're going to laugh but this sucker right here has been handed down for generations and it rocks.

getting the kids to help turn the handle and adding the ice & salt just gets everyone excited about the final product.

(Brand is Maid of Honor if you're looking to pick one up on ebay or something. built like a tank.)

frick an electric.

White Mountain. I'm using mine tomorrow. It's the best.

I have that same unit. The only downside is the space the two freezer drums take up in the freezer.
