His picture (Instagram) at the top of this post is a more accurate representation of how the meat actually came out. My pictures didn't turn out all that great, but in terms of flavor, smokiness, moisture, meat to fat content and texture - his brisket was one of the best I have ever eaten - and that does include eating at Smitty's and Black's in Lockhart, TX.

And his beef rib was better than what Black's puts out as well.

The owner is from Texas and knows what he is doing. I wish well and will be glad to support him again.

The corn salad was refreshing and quite a contrast to the amount of meat that I ordered (did not finish). Price for everything was $37, including a drink.

If you're looking for authentic Texas BBQ, look no further than Barbosa's. He is worthy of this board's support.

I'm definitely a fan. Couldn't make it to the Caneland Brunch yesterday but I try to hit his popups every month or two.

Follow his Instagram account. He moves locations and isn't set on one place.

He does popups in various places around town 2-3 times a month. He sets up at The Merchant, Caneland Distilling etc. and he's usually posted up for most of the festivals, White Light night and Mid City Merchant stuff. You have to follow him on social media to get the scoop.

Yep, Alex's brisket is legit. Good guy as well. Hopefully he can eventually get a more permanent location. I have trouble making a lot of the pop ups he sets up at.

Please take this question as a truly legit question. I am not trying to be contentious.

Is the brisket a bit overcooked? Just the pics look that way to me.

Again, not trying to crap on the place or be a jerk about it. Just asking.

His brisket is great. Have had it the past 2 years at Hogs. Definitely stands up with the better places in Texas.

I thought the same. Glad u asked. Looks a bit dry compared to what I am served at Pinkertons and Pit Room, if you are going to compare them to good Houston spots.

Definately willing to give it a try. Looks miles better than anything served anywhere near Baton Rouge, but that’s the lowest barometer imagineable.

I like fatty brisket tho. Good n greasy. Same on the beef rib

100 % no. I've tasted plenty of dried brisket (here's to looking at BRQ) and this is exactly the opposite.

The pictures that I took did not do his brisket any justice.

Barbosa is legit. Last had his brisket at an Overpass popup and it was excellent.

That's what you got? Everyone in this thread is saying good things about this man's barbecue and you're shitting on spending an extra dollar for a drink?

Eh, those aren't normal, run-of-the-mill bottled drinks.

That's about right.
