Range vs. Cooktop & Wall Oven(s)

Pros and cons of each setup?
I'm considering buying a house that has a kitchen that we would want to renovate. I've given some thought to doing a gas cooktop and electric wall oven(s).
This is the cooktop I have in mind if I were to go in that direction:
36" Capital with six open burners
Anyone have any experience with that? Should I go a different direction?

I think something may be wrong with your link bud....

That's what I prefer. No hot arse oven under me while I try to cook on the cooktop. It's across the room. It's also more accessible because it is up higher rather than at my knees.
I like having the space below the cooktop available for large drawers to store pots and pans, especially heavy ones like Le Creuset, right where they will be used.

I have had a 36" Capital range for 8 years, love the range, hate but I have temp issues with the oven. I have called Capital in the past and both times I called they could not find someone that would drive to my house to check it due to where I live. I have added a digital thermometer and adjuster the know to the desired temp. The oven is normally under temp by about 50 degrees.

Currently have a range and speed oven. About to build a house and plan on going with a cooktop and wall oven/ speed oven combo.
I plan on putting them a few steps apart so when the wife and I are cooking we can split tasks and not be on top of each other.

We are building now. I went with gas range top and double electric wall ovens. I didn't want a gas oven.

I find that an electric oven is cooks easier and evenly. Some gas stoves get too hot or too temperamental.

why not both?
its cheaper to go with a range instead of a cooktop anyway and you'll just get a 3rd oven for use when you're preparing a big dinner.
(this is what we have)

I like the look of range top with double wall ovens. I also found a great deal on a range top.

Appreciate it. Yeah, Capital seems to be on top of the field for cook tops. That's part of the reason I was thinking of this option.

seems like all the brands i looked up (bluestar, etc) the range cost less than the cooktops.
in almost every case, the cooktop was pricier.

i'm mistaken;
i was comparing RANGETOPS to RANGES, not COOKTOPS.

US Appliances is where I got mine. At the time they were known as the best place to purchase. I do not know if that is still the case...

We had a 4 burner gas cooktop and a convection wall oven at our townhouse. That setup was perfect. Cooktop was directly across from the sink. Facing the cooktop, fridge was a few spaces to the left, and oven a few to the right. Tons of counter space by the sink and small spots beneath the cabinets on either side of the cooktop. Big cabinet doors below for cookware. I loved that setup.
At our house now, everything is configured in an L shape. Tiny wall oven, counter, ceramic cooktop, corner counter, sink, counter, then fridge at the end. It is manageable, but if we ever renovate or need to replace the flooring, I'm going to reconfigure. We've dealt with the formica countertops for 9 years now, and when we moved in we thought that would be the first to go. But I want to do it right and if we get into tearing anything out, I want to tear it all out and start over.
