Yeah, its pretty rare for me to not support a place based on politics. They can believe whatever they want, and in general, if they make a good product, it doesn't matter to me.

Courtyard/Wood is the exception. Absolutely no chance I would ever support that place.

The good: sliced brisket, sausage (best in city), ribs, baked beans, wings, cracklin

The ok: Brussels (always cold, but tasty), mac n cheese, bbq nachos, burgers , pulled pork

The meh: slaw, potato salad, chicken sandwich, Smoked chicken

What is subpar about the chicken sandwich? Spice level? Batter? Bun? Limp pickle?

I saw that Adolfo Garcia is doing an Antifa support dinner at La Boca. Too bad, great staff there.

All you taste is spice, no chicken, might as well be fried tofu.

Sandwich falls apart.

It isn't bad, just meh. Not worth a trip or the worship it garners.

howso?

Too sweet?

Too much vinegar?

Too much of both?

I hate that. A stable bread is very important.

In their defense, chicken doesn't have a ton of taste.

I don't know if I've ever seen one on a menu, but I would think that smoking the bird and then flash frying might provide a good combination of textures and flavor.

Probably would have to go boneless thigh to keep it from drying out.

Because Scott Wood is a d-bag who is outspoken that he believes Louisiana is nothing but a bunch of backwoods idiots who need his enlightenment, yet he wants its residents to still spend their money on his premium priced beer.

Hey, the Urban South owners might be a bunch of leftists too, but you don’t see them out on social media throwing insults at their potential customers.

Exactly. A lot of bar/restaurant/brewery owners are pretty left, and they support what they believe in. But they're not assholes about it.

Agree that the BBQ is fine, but the sides are mediocre.

I’ve never gone to a BBQ place for its sides. Solely for the meat.

Phew I’m a sides gal all the way. I love their Mac and cheese with some Carolina sauce drizzled into it. I don’t remember the other sides enough to comment even though I had them all.

Perhaps, but the whole package separates the good from the great

If you offer a choice of 2 sides with your meat plate, you might want to fine tool them

Potato salad & slaw are simple. To contrast the mayo you need an acid (mustard/vinegar) in the dish. Theirs lacks that.

Same with the chicken sandwich. Thing looks super in photos. Lacks the acid that would really set the sauce off.
