you never defined 'workout'. define that (like i did a few pages back) and i will compare it with simply eating less and we'll see which way is more effective.

i think you'd be shocked.

Dude the specifics do not matter. It either can be done or it can't. To come out and say that exercise has no bearing on weight loss is just ignorant. It may not for you. Your motives are obviously different with cycling. Doesn't mean the next guy has the same MO.

I never said exercise is more effective than dieting. Never never never never said that. Maybe you assumed or misread, I do not know. It still doesn't change the fact that you blanketly stated that exercise has no bearing on weight loss

That is all I took a point to. And while my hypothetical may have been broad or not likely to happen in real life, it proved a point. That's all I was trying to do.

I sometimes can be a reflection of the sincerity your posts show. I will cease with the sensei references now that I know that you have not lost any of your love for me.

I only jest at your omniscience. (Okay I sometimes mock).
You also mock those of us who recognize that sodium-laced meals do cause fluid retention and some temporary upward scale movement. I was only watching the LE vs CAD banter.

I do mock that. Quite openly, however. Not trying to disguise anything.

CAD, it's all good. Healthy discussion

I wish I could get some of yall together in a room with some of the people I know. You are obviously interested in the topic of diet, exercise and health. Unfortunately, I believe you are internet educated. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You need to have these discussions with people who are professionals, who study and read the literature everyday. This is their life. It's obvious that some of you will never change your minds. I would be curious to see if you stuck to your guns against scientists.

If you are going to call me Internet educated, at least tell me what you don't agree with.

Something's are quite complicated when it comes to these things. But I think most professionals would agree that exercise is a great weight loss aid. Is it more important than diet? No, probably not. But it is far from worthless as CAD originally said.

I don't know everything, but I'm pretty confidant that is more than just an Internet fact.

ETA: my spell check isn't working. Forgive me

I don't disagree with what you said but I think you are having difficulty convincing CAD because you don't have much to back it up with. I definitely believe that exercise aides in weight loss. If one is only concerned with a number on a scale then that's fine, starve yourself. The weight will come off. If you are concerned with health as well, you better eat well and exercise. Exercise also plays a big role in maintaining weight loss.

I get the bad-eater/can't hide behind sodium for every gain take. I've said as much.

Is your experience/knowledge the basis of your disdain/disbelief of sodium-fluid retention. Have your trainers convinced you that it doesn't happen?

You've never had fluid retention after a bad meal?

I didn't think I was toeing the line with any type of breakthrough information. I'm sure you're friends in the field know more than I do.

It's quite easy to see why the conversation lasted so long.

It definitely happens. But Sometimes people just need to admit to being a fatass & not eating right or not moving enough.

If you are on a high protein diet like Atkins, it doesn't take much to throw off your weight loss and gain weight. And I'm not just talking about gorging at a crawfish boil or drinking a 6 pack; the favorite sodium weight gain situation.

There's a reason Atkins works: but as quick as you shed it, you can add it just as fast. Even with food that is not high in sodium.

Bench, lester is pretty tongue in cheek when it comes to the sodium bounce. We all know it happens.Diet combined with exercise creates a caloric defecit better than either of the two alone, its hard to argue that. You would need to lock Lester and CAD in an exercise lab for 30 days to see who is right. Studies/stats can argue both ways. All "I" know from my experience is that "I" lose faster when "I" do both

After 5 pages, this could be a "kum bah yah" moment, tho LE and CAD in an "exorcise" room might be the place. As Gus would say "apples -oranges, no matter. We're all fruit in the end"

no banana jokes please

I've always thought cad means more of excessive exercise isn't beneficial to weight loss. Like his bike rides that burn thousands and thousands of calories, but he doesn't lost weight.. I've never really felt that cad advocates no exercise at all (except for the first few months.. to get used to dieting first). But maybe I misunderstood.

Anyway, kumbaya.

Also, I looked up "kumbaya" on google images and found this:

John Kerry

Still 261 this morning. Let's have a look at the days menu.

Oatmeal and an apple for breakfast, Red beans and rice for lunch with a small bag of chex mix for a snack. Dinner will be chicken and dumplings and a bowl of grapes with a small cake for dessert.

Surprisingly enough most of this food tastes pretty good.
