your premise is bullshite. i just showed you what hard training for a solid YEAR looks like in regards to weight loss.

not some made-up scenario.

and what do you respond with? more made up stuff.

ok lester, yes sir. you are right. you are always right. this is the path to real world weight loss:

quote:

We eat & drink the exact same thing for 6 months straight. Meal for meal, day to day. Week to week.
But I work out 5 times a week. You don't workout at all.

MY GOD!!! LESTER SOLVED THE WEIGHTLOSS PROBLEM FOR THE WHOLE WORLD!!

LESTER FTW!!!!!

You still won't answer, which i find hilarious.

You make a blanket statement that is easily proved false. So my premise is bullshite. Yes, makes sense.

How anyone follows your advice in this thread is worrisome.

Do you not carb load when you cycle?

never. i don't do carbs except cliff shotbloks during races which i burn during the race.

Have you not talked about how you meet 2 girls on the weekend and drink 12 beers?

i never said 12 beers and if you can find my quote it was probably a year ago at least. i've been much more focused on training lately.

What if you ate the same exact thing and didnt cycle?

what do you think i'm eating?? i skip breakfast and lunch and generally have a steak or grill some chicken at dinner.

i also eat lots of nuts, birdseeds, strawberries, etc.

thats about it. i'm serious. i eat a slice of pizza or something maybe once every couple weeks when i'm really tired and hungry and my resistance to food is low.

so in your opinion, why don't you lose weight when you cycle?

why are most pro cyclist in the 160 range? Why do they balloon up when not training for a race?

LESTER FANTASY <> REALITY

i understand how important it is for you to be proven right (which i did right above this answer) but your statment isn't reality.

yeah dont pay any attention to the guy who actually DOES do crazy-arse amounts of training every week and says

IT DOES NOT HELP WEIGHTLOSS

My premise could just as easily be a scientific study.

Come on, humor me. Just pretend it was a scientific study. Which guy would lose more weight?

Your deflection of this simple hypothetical question has to be quite embarrassing.

I don't have to be right; but when I am, i know it. And i am right.

your ignorance on the subject is staggering.

1. smaller guys (much like horse jockeys) are drawn to cycling because they can get up climbs faster than other people. duh. cycling doesn't make them 160lbs, they fit the demographic already.

2. big guys (Magnus Backstedt was 200lbs) are also very good at a different aspect of racing..sprinting..and win plenty of races. Thor Hushvod, Mark Cavendish, etc. are 180+ lbs and they win the hell out of bike races.

3. nobody 'balloons up' (except Jan Ulrich) when they're not training. cyclists traing all year. maybe you're thinking about after they retire..like football players..hmm...wait this is adding credence to MY argument again.

so they gain weight when they are not exercising or training, and it's adding credence to your argument? L.O.L!

Otherwise, continue talking out of your arse.

Here it is one more time

hypothetical :

you and I are both 6'0, 300lbs.

We eat & drink the exact same thing for 6 months straight. Meal for meal, day to day. Week to week.

But I work out 5 times a week. You don't workout at all.

Who is more likely to shed more pounds?

Who is going to argue more calories burned vs. calories consumed won't result in weightloss?

I argued working out like crazy (every day) is completely ineffective and won't result in weightloss.

Eating less will.

The end.

You're right in theory (revel in it) but so very very VERY wrong in what happens in the real world.

TRAP SPRUNG

yep, all that crazy amount of working out and maintaining status quo..but as soon as you stop..BOOM GOES THE WEIGHT.

too bad these people never learned cutting back on what they're eating leads to weightloss and not exercise.

sucks for them.

so one more thing:

you were once a fat arse. You will give ZERO credit of your weight loss to cycling?

this is so funny. It happens everyday on a small scale. All I wanted you to do was realize that exercise does have something to do with weight loss. Just because it hasn't to do, doesn't mean others have benefitted. You really should keep a more open mind. Have a good day.

honestly you are the last person id take advice from in this thread. IM being dead serious. Your mind is so engrained that what you do is the only way to do it. Think about it. have a good one.

i've said all along it plays a part.

a very MINOR part...

and especially if you're 290lbs, you should not incorporate this into any kind of weightloss program because you're doomed to fail. (injury, embarrassment at exercising in public, lack of motivation)

i happen to think exercise is very important.

obviously i enjoy it.

but if you truly want to help people in this thread, lester, you need to quit being so determined to be right from a lawyer-speak standpoint and embracing what will actually help people.

diet is 95% of weightloss
5% is exercise

this is true for everyone and only creates disappointment and frustration for people who think they can 'exercise themselves thin'.

ain't gonna ever ever ever happen.
