Bwhahah, I do like big boys but I'm not sure we could overcome the house divided...or the fact that we are 4 states away from each other.

I forgot, earlier, to post my weight..

My diet took a hit but Ive been volunteering for the last few days, usually I am lazy and do nothing but go to the gym a time or 2 during my week off ( gotta love a nurses schedule, week on week off)

this thread is multidimensional.
Atkins, archevore, weight watchers, portion control, Body for life. exercise or not. each poster is right because they posting opinions, which are like a very important part of the digestive system.

the main thing is to post your numbers and hold yourself accountable.

What's "yikes" about it?

Your preconceived notion of what's healthy and what's not?

But yeah, there are different diets going on in here. Like Bench said, the main point is for support and to hold yourself accountable.

This is not an atkins vs the world thread. I'm not on it but have followed some of its basic precepts. All this energy wasted arguing really detracts from the point. Its time to put the knives (& forks) down.

Most of the arguments haven't really been atkins vs anything else (except when me and Powerman got into it), but lately it's exercise now vs exercise later or exercise a lot vs a little, etc. I know when I signed up there was no arguing whatsoever.. it's really only started lately. Dunno why.. shite happens.

Only happens when Lester breaks out the "i did it wrong BS."

This wave started because some guy told you to walk 3 to 5 miles a day.

Yeah but me and powerman argued before that too. We should have all just let each other say our peace and move on, but we decided to argue. We need to stop doing that.. it ruins the greatness of this thread.

eta:

Speaking of powerman, I havent seen hair nor hide of him around here lately.. wonder how he's doing.

Na, debate never ruins the thread unless it devolves into cursing and threats, and at that point it becomes entertaining.

I probably will regret this: I hate to break it to ya but what has been going on here is not "debating". more parsing and spinning, and defending, and being offended, which is great for other boards.

I am a slow learner so just jumping in now. I am on day 7 of induction and have lost 6-7 pounds. Just had my 2nd wedding anniversary and I put on 40 pounds since then and I was already 30 pounds overweight. So my goal is to lose 70 pounds. I have diabetes (and prefer vegetarian to meat) and asthma (which is aggregated by cardio of course) but I am doing Atkins and joined a gym so this should make for good stories anyway. Also my husband is probably 30-40 pounds overweight and refuses to drop the carbs. We have 4 teenagers (none overweight) and the youngest is autistic and mainly eats sandwiches and chips so I have to have willpower because cleaning out the bad foods is not going to happen. I have not eaten only induction foods but I have used ketone strips and been in ketosis everyday since I started. Not counting calories now but may have to start as I lose weight and it gets harder to lose. Sorry my post was so long but I wanted to provide the backstory. Any and all support would be appreciated. Also I have read the whole 172 page thread over the last few days so I am up to speed. LOL
