Cold. Always cold. Served with gumbo and each person can elect to eat it on the side or in the bowl.

The only hot potato salad I've ever had was like a twice baked potato salad. And that's not what you want with gumbo. The answer is cold, Boss.

Always in gumbo pal, but I prefer a small sweet potato in gumbo over a potato salad!!!!

Room temp when fresh…cold after that.

I tend to agree.
Didn’t mean necessarily “hot” but made just before eating.
Gumbo party is at 5:30. Making and goin in fridge.

I love warm, but the next day I'll eat it cold.

Cold with gumbo or crab stew.
Warm with bbq.
This is actually the 11th commandment.

Cold and there is no other option. I don’t want hot potato salad, ever. I always put mine in the gumbo.
Edit: room temp is ok with certain things. I was misunderstanding and being too literal with “hot.”

Probably should have clarified n OP… “hot” was meant - made just before we serve. I eat it both ways, and was arguing w some family members on which is better. It’s really splitting hairs, but they gettin it cold.
Cold helps cool the hot arse gumbo, too. It fell in deaf ears for the couple dudes arguing. Bet they eat it tho.

My wife likes it warm, not hot, right after making it. I can go either way.
I skip the rice and add a scoop of her potato salad in my gumbo. It is not a vinegar or pickle flavored potato salad. Mayo and mustard. Very simple.
