Just stopped and grabbed one after looking at this thread. It was very good and I didn’t have to pull up to wait

They just posted to their website that it is only a temporary addition to the menu, scheduled to stop being offered August 4th at most locations, or when supply runs out!

Corporate wanted it to be temp, but managers want to keep it. It will come back permanently

On the Popeye's promo page on their website, I only see the shrimp deal that's going away on August 4th?

Finally got to try one after reading 23 pages of hype.

It’s good...but I don’t think it beats CFA. Too much breading in some bites and I also hate mayo so got mine without. Further research will be necessary.

I ate inside and in the 20 mins I was here I heard 14 sandwiches ordered so clearly they’re popular.

same. the hoppers were loaded with chicken that no one was ordering (and which looked freaking delicious) but me and about 10 other people were standing around waiting on the ONE WOMAN who was meticulously putting pickles on the sandwich buns one-at-time.

the rest of the workers were just standing around waiting on her. maybe popeyes needs to pay a chicfila consultant to explain how to make sandwiches faster.

There's no question about this.

Probably need employees more willing to learn/work hard to make the CFA model work.

the popeyes i went to literally had no idea how to handle a menu item more popular than the chicken. they have the "reach around with the tongs and grab a couple of chicken pieces to drop in a box" down but when every person in line was ordering a sandwich, they all were standing around like deer in the headlights while the one person 'skilled' in making the sandwiches was trying to handle all the drive-through orders and all the inside orders.

i didn't post about it yesterday but i'm guessing it took upwards of 10 minutes to finally get my one little sandwich.

Simplicity is the key. CFA has a limited menu, it allows them to be as efficient as they are. There are only a few moving parts.

If you've ever fried chicken at home, frying bone in chicken alone is quite the time consuming event. Picture minimum wage workers executing this -- So you got spicy and mild bone in chicken that needs to be floured battered fried - 15 minutes start to finish. Spicy and mild tenders that need to be battered floured fried. Boneless wings that need to be battered floured fried. Shrimp, apple pies, french fries. Now ya got sandwich filets that need to be floured battered fried.

You gotta have a prep person 12 hours a day competent enough to constantly make cajun rice, rice for red beans, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, corn on the cobb. On top of constantly baking biscuits.

Keep in mind ya dont wanna waste food but ya wanna have it ready nice and fresh, you cannot just pile it up like a buffett or gas station.

Oh ya and now minimum wage worker needs to put together an accurate order with multiple items in it. And find time to make ya sandwiches

Isn't that a big part of the greatness that is this legendary sandwich?

Just got rejected by the Homewood Popeyes. Oh there was a picture on the menu board, but when the counter girl called back my order, the kitchen replied "we ain't got that". When Counter Girl said that she just sold one before me (and pointed to the picture), kitchen said management didn't want them to open a new four-pack after 6pm. Hmph.
