You’re not kidding. I was on the phone with my dad the other week when he happened to be going through the drive thru there. Ordered a roast beef poboy and I could hear them give the total. Just under $20. That’s ludicrous.

a burger on a bun is $10 and a double burger is $20. So a poboy with 2 patties is the same as a double burger

It makes sense if you're comparing the double patty poboy to their own menu.. you are 100% right about that. However, it doesn't make sense when comparing it to pretty much everywhere else in town. I imagine his frustration was the price compared to elsewhere, not compared to the burger on bun on their menu, ya know?

I guess the question is -- Should a double burger (bun or poboy bread need not matter) be double the price of a single in the first place?

I think they could get away with it if every other restaurant priced it that way too.. but they don't, generally speaking. A double cheeseburger at the places that offer such a thing is generally around 1.5x the price of the single, give or take.

Then you have places like Chimes whose single patty burger is a half pound, which I imagine is around the same oz of meat that were on OP's poboy in total (not per patty) if it was able to all fit on a sliced in half 7inch bread.

After reading over their latest Facebook reviews, I'm glad to see many others had the exact same reaction I did...it also shows bingo nameo is in the minority...or he is purposely being outrageous

Had the $13 eight inch-ish Philly Cheesesteak last week, chuckled at the $18 to $20 full size, at the Fla Blvd-Sharp location. Was good as usual.

I'll stick with Philly Me Up.

Aren’t you comparing apples and oranges here?

In this case a burger poboy, sliced in half, would create two full hamburgers that could be split.

At another establishment, a “double burger” would be two patties on one bun, not two full burgers.

Not the same.

Also not defending that pricing - I would pick a lot of places to eat before paying that much for a poboy.

No, which is why I said it’s a couple of dollars high. But it’s not shocking.

I think their prices are high. But you have to tell the truth about what you’re getting when you discuss it.

If regular means two patties and the poboy loaf then $19 as it says isn’t all that high

I found the reason they are able to charge insane prices.
Stupid people will not only pay them, but defend them on the interwebs.

Y’all are burying the lead- that “poboy” looks like complete shite. Sysco top to bottom. And at that price? They have balls charging that price for that low quality product. But it sounds like alot of people here actually eat there so what do I know.

I said it was a little high so I don't know what you are talking about.

I also said there's no reason for you to lie about what you ordered when discussing it.

This thread is giving me PTSD flashbacks to the Five Guys thread.

People aren’t understanding the original post said he paid $22 for a cheeseburger. We were trying to reason why it would be that much and have found out it was a 2 patty cheeseburger poboy.

This is why we were standing up for the price, because of what he got for the price, not because we think the price is a good deal.

Yes. I get it. And if we want to be truly objective we'd need to do a cost per calorie breakdown (I literally did that in the Five Guys thread).

But I don't believe this thread is about objectivity.

It's about putting Market Price on all of your menu items.

It's about a chain having items nearly double the costs as some similar priced & sized items as other mom & pop places in town. When chains are supposed to have lower production costs off the bat.
