Placed to eat in Dahlonega

Going to Blue Ridge at the end of June but spending a night in Dahlonega and need a good casual dinner spot that’s kid friendly. Any suggestions are appreciated! TIA

Last time I was there, I ate MRE’s(mountaineering phase for US Army Ranger School)…

They have a Pizza Hut Classic there. Neat time machine experience.

We strongly considered this option. Since we are driving up on Father's Day I opted for a nicer restaurant. We plan to try The Underground. We may hit that on the drive back.

Gustavo's Scratch Kitchen is pretty good. It is a pizza joint. Many kids were there when we went for Christmas a few years ago. Solid ipizza as well. Grapevine's was a decent place as well. It's casual Italian dining.
While in Blue Ridge, The Black Sheep is a pretty good restaurant as well, and they make a fantastic smoked Old Fashioned paired with candied bacon. Toccoa Riverside restaurant is a neat place if you can get a table outside or in the solarium.

Hell to the no for Black Sheep. I wouldn't eat there if it was the last restaurant in Blue Ridge. They pay to get all their bad reviews removed, and promptly. I've left them and they disappear within days.
Just for example, a few people were complaining that the Eggs Benedict at brunch used a fried egg instead of poached. The owner really watches the bad reviews and replied that it was just easier to use fried eggs. The entire negative post will disappear within days.
I have a list of complaints of my own about the place. They do not honor reservations either. If they are busy and you have reservations, you can be out of luck on dining there.

Crazy, we have been a few times and never had an issue. As a matter of fact, each experience was good. I wouldn't be back either if I had that happen.

I get the sentiment but I’ve had 2 good meals at black sheep.
Harvest on main and Chester Brunnenmeyers would be good options. Chester’s has a bit of a pub feel
As far as Dahlonega my favorite is Shenanigans. They usually have a good tap list. The basement is fun/lively with dollar bills everywhere. Upstairs is more like a normal quieter restaurant

We were planning to stop in Atlanta and do the aquarium but it's during the World Cup and their Juneteenth celebration. Hotel prices are insane and don't really want to be in Atlanta with all that going on so we found a hotel in Dahlonega. Plan to hit the Cabbage Patch hospital for the kids and go to Helen as well before heading to Blue Ridge.

In Blue Ridge, go to this place and get Apple Butter, with Biscuits.
Southern Charm
Try to stop at this place, get a fried Apple Pie. The town of Ellijay, Ga.

Stop in and get a Burger and a Beer, it overlooks the Chattahoochee river. Watch the hundreds of folks tubing down the river.

Another cool town, Woodstock, Ga. Just north of ATL. They have some of the best restaurants within that small city.

I second Gustavo’s. If you make it to Blue Ridge, try Fightingtown Tavern. Everything is locally sourced and made daily.

If you go up (or down) 575/515 stop at Rocco’s in Jasper.
Biker place with surprisingly good food.

Great spot. Glad to see they're still around.
