I can understand the cost factor, and I agree that we don't eat out as often as we used to given the cost, but you wouldn't go eat somewhere like Eliza on Jefferson Highway because of crime?

I cant think of any place I have ever gone out to eat in BR where I have felt unsafe at any time. Theres hordes of places to go have a good meal for a family of 3 for under $100.

Increased crime bothers me too, but this is a bit silly. The vast majority of BR restaurants are perfectly safe to dine in, park at, etc.
That's besides the point, though. I am sure you are a fine cook, but I imagine you're not pumping out nice sushi, pho, ramen, etc. on the regular. Hell, just the other day at Mansur's the waitress named 8 different fish on their "rotating fish of the day" menu - 6 of which are not sold anywhere in BR grocery stores.
For me, that's a big reason why going out to eat will never be something I stop doing. Everyone is different, though.

I took my wife and two kids out for lunch two days ago, and the bill was $110, which includes tip and one alcoholic drink. This was at an independent, non-dive bistro type place in NYC.

While I don’t disagree in principle, what would you put on this list?
I find that more and more to go out and have a good meal (which usually includes a glass of wine or a bar drink) it’s hard to not spend $100.

. For the other guy, I was talking about a meal without alcohol. Three entrees and maybe an app with 3 regular drinks. Im also assuming the daughter is a kid no older than 14 or so. Chimes

Pizza places are a good call out - it's easier to eat for several if all in the group are willing to eat from one pie.
I guess it depends on the type of experience you are looking for. While most of these are full-service restaurants, these aren't exactly fine dining either. I was hoping you were going to share a list of amazing hole in the wall finds with great food for cheap.

It's pushing it.
3 regular drinks @ $3.99 - $11.97
1 app - $12.00
3 entrees @ $20 - $60.00
$83.97
Tax brings it to $91.52
20% tip takes it to $110.00
Edit: If I drop entrée average price to $15 you can get out for $90 after everything, but I'm seeing less and less entrees at $15.00.

The statement that prompted the whole price discussion was this:
"It costs minimum $100 for my wife, daughter and I to go eat anywhere decent."
That's what people were picking at, and it's just demonstrably not true.
Now people are mentioning fine dining and talking about apps and alcohol for all three people. Of course that's going to increase the price. My wife and I just did omakase at a very nice sushi place and had a great time, but our bill was $400. That's obviously not what people are talking about here.

To eat anywhere decent for under $100, I think it’s harder than you are acting like it is.
I shouldn’t have to skip a glass of wine and share my entree to keep the cost reasonable.
ETA: I don’t necessarily mind that the costs are what they are if I’m getting a good meal. But let’s not act like everyone is getting “decent” meals for a bargain these days.
