It is indeed a Nova Vert base. The next one will probably also be an IPA base, but in future there will be something different, maybe even a little sour beer like our base for Glass Houses. The only common denominator with SIPS is the beers being fruit bombs. We will experiment with all kinds of adjuncts, fruits, and beer bases. Your feedback is very much welcomed and part of the project. This is about innovation and going beyond what is traditionally "beer". The batches are 5 barrels at a time, so we can make some rad stuff without committing to anything too large. I'm sure there will be some duds, but there will also probably be some unexpected home runs. Cheers.

He probably read my disdain for fruit juices added to beer and felt a need to try and redirect the fanboi's

Fan boys complain that the brewery only makes one type of beer. Brewery announces that they’re trying to innovate. Fan boys complain about the innovation

The problem with Parish fans, is there is no happy medium. You either love parish with everything you have, and condemn others for being critical. Or you have a hipster like affinity towards them that anytime they get successful or big, they are "sell outs".

This is a food and drink forum. Some times people just want to discuss beers. Parish is discussed often because they've established themselves as one of the top breweries in the state. So when something new happens, it's getting discussed.

I'm probably considered a Parish "hater" because I point out things I find that may be flawed in their beers. It's ok to admit, that not all Parish beers have been homeruns. I found that Nova Vert wasn't good at all. 2 years ago it would have been great, but now, with the beers we have available, Nova, IN MY OPINION, was bad. It was overcarbonated, and lacked hop flavor. Again, these are my perceptions of the beer. Some people may like it. Taste is subjective. Some people love mosaic hops. I find they tend to taste like garlic/onion.

I would love to try some of the SIPS "beers", but I wouldn't wait in line for them.

Although I think they idea works best with a berliner or gose, not IPA.

I might wait in line if they changed the base

Same here. If the base is Nova, and assuming that Nova is heavily late hopped, then you are kinda defeating the purpose of using all those hops if you are going to cram all of that fruit in there.

We have very different definitions of 'bad' if you consider Nova a 'bad' beer.

I didn't care for it. And like I said, it's probably because I'm accustomed to better made beers by Parish, Gnarly Barley, Urban South, etc...

I still have 3 bottles of the 11/8 batch that I haven't touched. I found it to have too much of a carbonic bite and not enough hop flavor. Opus was a great beer, but what it has become is a shell of it's former self.

And like I said in my post, TASTE IS SUBJECTIVE.

I'm not seeing much love in the Houston groups for it. This experiment may be a one and done without the mules from the west.
