Piccadilly was reserved for Mother's day.
Catfish King for Easter and Mohawk's for Father's day.
Grandparents love(d) Podnuh's and we would go after church every once in a blue moon

I'm drawing a blank on the name of the catfish place out on 15 where we would go, "later in life" after money wasn't quite as tight. Special occasions with out of town family visiting and such. Clyde's, maybe? I know they tried to open a place in town around Washington....
They had a silver dollar placed in the concrete by the cashier counter, and said it was yours if you got it out. I must have scuffed my feet on that sucker for years!!!

Yes, my baby girl swam 4 years in D2. She was amazing. 4 year qualifier for NCAAs, scored in individual events every year, was a 10 time individual All American, and was the conference swimmer of the year and all sport women's athlete of the year for her school her senior year. I'm a bit proud. She also graduated Suma Cum Laude in 4 years with a dual degree in Education.
I was in Monroe 2 weeks ago, and now I'm pissed I didn't get any beans!!

Where you been? Haven't seen you around here in ages.
ETA momma got so rich later in life she could afford to throw popcorn at people in the Plitt.

A long while back, I guess I took a break that turned out to pretty much be permanent.... stumbled over a food thread last week when I was looking for somewhere to eat, and got sucked back in!

my indulgence growing up was once a month my dad would stop at Toto's hamburgers (off 165 on desiard across from where the daiquiri shop is now) for 10 cent burgers wrapped in red/clear waxed paper.
those things were killer.

Speaking of “Tony’s”. Tony’s Seafood Market on Plank Road in Baton Rouge. The beans in their food line are really good. They add a little bell pepper to their seasoning. With their delicious rice dressing and Seasoned beans, you don’t need anything else. I pick up a quart of each.

Try using showboat beans. My great uncle, now deceased, had their recipe and used a variation in his catering business and he would only use showboat beans. Try using 1 part showboat beans to 1/4 part brisket fat/trimming along with onion, garlic, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and extra brown sugar to taste. The main things to focus on is the extra sugar, brisket fat and mustard. That’s about as close as I remember.

I have a feeling you had a "bean effect" on the ladies even back then.
