Opinions on brunch?

With the talk about Mason's brunch I started thinking about brunch in general.
I have found that most people are either enthralled with brunch or can't stand it.
The thought of brunch is terrible to me. Something about it just turns me off completely.
I work with someone who loves it, and I get that too.

I honestly have never understood this...its just a late breakfast?
I love brunch/breakfast. We go out every Sunday morning as a family for brunch/breakfast. The places we go don't have the typical eggs benedict brunch menu though. But I do love some eggs benedict as well...
I guess its the "rich white girl" stigma behind it or something that causes people to have this irrational hatred towards it?

I don't like brunch because I don't want to pay $20+ for eggs benedict, French toast, bacon, etc. I'd rather skip brunch and just get some Vietnamese or tacos.
If I have to get breakfast, I'd rather pay $6.50 and get an all-star special instead.

Personally I prefer a big meal on a weekend at say 130 or 2 pm than 1130. So I guess I am more a Lunner than a bruncher

No. Brunch is the worst value in dining. The food is largely thoughtless, just an opportunity to clean out the kitchen on your plate.

I love brunches it "late breakfast". It's usually some kind of celebration when we go and it doesn't have to be at super fancy places.
I love me some Benedict dishes.
The Bloody Mary and mimosas that go with it usually is a nice plus too. LOL
I think some people just associate brunch with crazy expensive places like Brennan's.

Pretty much this. When I was a younger man and could get away with drinking all day on a Sunday (and needed a few to feel human after a Saturday night) I was all about brunch.

It's typically a poor value, but that's hardly a deciding factor. I'm just not a huge fan of breakfast foods in general, no matter the time of day. That being said, I have no issue with a solid buzz before noon, so if I get invited and that's the underlying intent I'll join. I'll probably skip the mimosas and go straight to gin or bourbon, though.

Ditto. In my head brunch sounds good, but by the time it gets around to 10:30, I'm over breakfast and ready for lunch.
Brunch is a money maker for restaurants. Most brunch items offer the largest margins of any dish served all week.

I used to hate the thought of brunch, the word brunch and anybody who was an advocate of brunch. Then as I got older I realized that you could drink during brunch and nobody would think less of you.
"3 finger screw driver with your Western omelet sir?"

Now I'm a proponent of phasing out breakfast all together and having Brunch, Lunch and Dinner.
"It's 4 am, we have to get to the airport."

I love brunch. Not so much for the social event aspect.. i actually love the food. Sure, it is basic ingredients. But poached eggs and hollandaise are awesome. Pair that with a rich grillade dish.. or fried oysters.. or a crab cake? Yes yes yes. The idea of combining breakfast ingredients with meat/seafood is fantastic to me.

This x 1000 !
Spending $20+ on some poached eggs and hollandaise has zero appeal for me. I'd rather drop $10 bucks on a bowl of pho or get a plate of traditional breakfast at a local diner, then head to a bar. Brunch food overall is just not impressive and the whole "scene" people make it out to be is often lame as frick.
