Olive Garden

It’s basically McDonalds.

Except it takes longer, is more expensive, and the food is worse.

It ok if you like it, but realize its all prepackaged microwaved crap.

I sometimes eat there for lunch on a hot summer day. The salad is a pretty refreshing lunch when it is 100 degrees.

We tore up Olive Garden in the 90s. The breadsticks were so shiny with oil you could see your reflection.

It’s been years but have been meaning to return. They seem to have a loyal fan base still.

I think foodie culture and the fact you can get prepared or semi-prepared meals at the grocery store similar in price and quality has killed off those mid price, mid quality restaurants. I used to like Olive Garden well enough, I haven’t been there in 15 years. If I want pasta, I’ll either cook it at home or go to DiGuilio Brothers.

It might be all prepackaged crap, but it’s usually going to be better than McDonald’s. I’ll also like dealing with a younger person that’s trying to make a better life for themselves VS Shenqiuea.

Fast food prices have gone insane under the current inflation storm but the big chain restaurants are not that bad, especially if you take advantage of the specials. It's not Michelin star cuisine but it looks a lot better in this economy compared to the alternatives, including cooking at home.

I got some meal at Taco Bell recently and it was $14. I was eating that nasty crap and a commercial came on for Outback steakhouse that advertised a special that included a steak, side dish and 16 oz beer for $13. I realized I could have had a steak dinner and beer brought to me by a server for the same price as a crappy Taco Bell combo meal that took 10 minutes for the idiot at the drive thru window to mess up.

I am trying to figure out why we have transitioned away from these places. Maybe the society classes have separated further and further. Maybe people now want originality and a local town feel (like a Walk On's or Canes). I don't know anyone in my social circle that would go to these places anymore.

I like to try to patron more local or regional restaurants. Olive Garden, Popeyes and Chick Fil A are probably our household's three favorite national chains, though, and Olive Garden is pretty darn good for what it is.

Chili's isn't bad, though it's been a couple years. We ate at Outback in Amarillo while on vacation earlier this year. Haven't been there is probably well over 10 years. Those wings were still pretty darn good and meaty.

Applebees is trash, though, like TGI Fridays. Won't waste money at those places.

The Olive Garden in Hammond is top notch. I went about a month ago and was blown away by the service and food. I understand the quality of chain restaurants is not always the best but I can tell they actually cared for their food and service. The manager came by twice to check on us. All of our food came out hot and "fresh."

In my area of Los angeles county there isn't an Olive garden or any similar type chain (aside from cheesecake factory, which I wouldn't consider similar to olive garden anyway).

My guess is the rise of fast casual hurt places like olive garden and such.

Seriously? Have you ever been to Applebees? Chili's? Go to OG then go to Bistro Italia, there is no comparison.

I haven’t been to the restaurant since I was a kid, but I buy their light salad dressing as a staple. Low calorie and IMO the best Italian dressing in stores.

It's good for what it is. Type of place I like to hit every so often and I like it better than other chain restaurants like Chili's or Applebee's.

Fratelli's in Slidell is better but they're better than most places.

Not an Olive Garden fan myself but it's my kids favorite and the wife takes them for girls night out. I normally stay at home and enjoy my quiet time. I'll eat salad and breadsticks if I'm stuck going with them; and live another day.

Chili's isn't bad with the 3 for me. Plus if you have the app, you always get free chips and salsa which is my favorite chips and salsa from any restaurant.
