Old Timey Drive In (Burgers, Chili Dogs, Crinkle Cut Fries) Within an Hour of New Orleans

Is there an old fashioned drive in, where the waitresses bring it to your car, within an hour or so of New Orleans? Like a Sonic but a mom n pop? Thanks y'all.

Don't think so. It's 2020.

Big boys in New Roads at false river is closest one I can think of. It's decent but don't think I would drive an hour to eat a burger.

I can't think of any that actually bring the food to your car. But there are some kind-of old fashioned short order/drive in type places you might find interesting, if you're willing to get out and walk to the window....I'm not saying any of these places are gourmet, though.
--River Queen Drive Inn, Port Allen (decent burger, fried pork chop)
--Dairy Inn, Napoleonville (been in business since the late 50s when my newlywed parents would stop there in the first Volvo seen in those parts, LOL)
--D&D Drive In, Larose; eat where Coach O got his childhood burgers and fries; if you need to gain weight, the peanut butter milkshake will do the trick.
RIP to the late, great:
--Noah's Drive In, Lockport
--Whipt Dip, Lecompte

Is Frostop still around? That may fit the bill (but I think they offer drive-in?).

I haven't been around in a while, so who knows if it's still open, but Malt-N-Burger in Thibodaux, LA is a walk-up old timey burger and shake kind of place.

Malt n Burger is still kicking.
So is the Goal Post Drive In, Lockport.
Hell, OP, you could do a DTB Drive In Tour.
Re: Frostop, the one in Destrehan is still kicking, but it’s in a strip mall with zero atmosphere.

Dairy Dip in Belle Chasse would probably fit what you're looking for, but I can't vouch for the food (we just stopped for ice cream)

There's a few pff of florida if you're driving that way from Amite to BR.
I'd love to know the name.
Most were deserted looking, but 1 had probably 100 cars and looked great.

I wouldn’t ever eat there but is the frost top in La Place still open?

I looked up Malt n Burger and Goal Post Drive Inn and they are exactly what I was dreaming about. Thanks. Will report back.

Lee’s in Hammond has the old timers diner feel but they don’t bring it to your car

Lee’s was the first thing that came to mind for me.

If you make it to the Goal Post, don’t overlook the fried shrimp. Remember that you’re DTB and roadside drive-ins are more than just burgers and fries. Try the crab patty poboy, and the roast beef poboy is also good.
ETA the Malt n Burger has an ice cream sundae built over a funnel cake. Do not attempt unless you’ve got hungry teens along for the ride.

Frostop on Claiborne is probably your best bet. Not a drive in but definitely has that old timely feel. Music that they play fits the bill too.

I've never been, but I've passed Lee's Diner in Hammond and it is kind of like a 50's style restaurant.
