Let me just say that I’ve always wondered why our people was soo very snobby about food..until first I have moved to South Carolina to work and the food here sucks balls! Also I’m at a all inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic and the food in South Carolina would be good right now. I guess I just took for granted the good food I’ve had my whole life.

Same thing in the same state. I have had some awesome food at breweries, but it's not the same. Most of it is very bland and not much local variety. I will say, I had the best shrimp and grits I've ever had in my entire life at a downtown spot in Greenville. The beer in SC and NC makes up for it because I can cook all the foods I miss from La at home.

No one goes to an all inclusive expecting good food.

I stayed at one all inclusive in Mexico, not by choice. The food was mediocre to bad at every single restaurant, the Mexican restaurant by far being the worst. The hamburgers at the outside bar was good. Just good and probably good because the rest was terrible.

HIJACK-hungryone, a few of us are interested in your shrimp mold recipe. See the shrimp dip thread where we asked.

I eat my way all over the country for work and I would rank South Carolina pretty high on the food list. Especially the Costal/ Low Country region. It's probably the closest to "Louisiana food" as any place in America.

This. The Gullah cuisine of the low country is very similar to Louisiana food. Shoot even the accent is similar.

Well that's your problem boss. You're in the worst decent size city in the South. Was there Saturday and it's just been awful every single time. Hit Charleston, Greenville, Charlotte for better everything.

Dude, all inclusive resorts all have shitty food.

To be honest, it's not really about "non-Louisiana" food. It's if your town is a foody town. There is plenty to rave about in other cities outside of Louisiana. You just moved to a town with crappy food options.

You are right in that Louisiana natives are a bit spoiled, but that's when it comes to cajun / creole food mostly. There are some exceptions, like Mediterranean food in BR. There are plenty of cuisines outside of Cajun / Creole that you can't get in Louisiana that are very good.

That's quite a dumb blanket statement. I've been to 2. One had decent food and the other had great food. Nothing was remotely shitty except the sushi bar in St Lucia.

The food in South Carolina is amazing. Shrimp and grits, biscuits, fried chicken, gumbo, crab cakes, BBQ, seafood boil...DAMN.

LA does cajun/creole, and most seafood dishes better than anywhere else. Also for BBQ at home LA is underrated
Nola has some really good restaurants, most of the other cites have 1-5 good places and there are some good rural restaurants

But LA does not have good ethnic food compared to Texas or the West Coast, or the NE
We also lack good BBQ restaurants compared to the rest of the south

The Midwest definitely has the worst food in the country
