I’m surprised some of y’all are able to leave the house with this much fear. I spent a week in NOLA at the beginning of the month and was never in danger once.

An entire week and not in danger once, that epitomizes the phrase "damned by faint praise".

Yes, if you see someone get hit by lightning, you might develop a fear of lightening. In 1979 my 1st cousin was murdered on St. Charles Ave, broad daylight.

In the late 90's the wife of a friend was murdered for her purse. Heartbreaking funeral, 2 young children.

The last one I personally knew was within the last year.

Yes, I have an anti-getting murdered in New Orleans bias, so shoot me. (not really).

No, simply bc you are an imbecile

the restaurants are getting better than NO.
The above is monumentally stupid considering 1) you've admittedly not stepped foot in the city in years because you're chickenshit 2) it's a laughable statement even if you had and 3) the OP has zero interest in traveling to SELA to go to the fricking Northshore.

I'm alive soy boy, and I know many, many people who have expressed the same sentiment. NOLA is dead to them. My friends condo on St. Phillip is dropping in value every day, everything else is booming, not NO.

People vote with their feet.

Dude. I want out of NOLA I'm not going to lie, but my property value has gone up by a lot every year for the past decade.

Dont listen to these people.

New Orleans is a great and mostly safe city to visit if you completely avoid Downtown and the French Quarter.

I live here and haven’t been to the downtown/Quarter area since January 2020 and have zero desire to go down there again.

You calling me a soy boy yet too scared to go into a city for a weekend. Don’t make Louie T ride up in here again and shut your life down.

You and your friends don't have to come; the city won't care one iota. The blatant lies about the Northshore vs. Nola food scenes and Nola real estate costs make you look like a titanic dipshit.

I am huge Nola fan. Born, lived, and worked. We don't miss a Nola festival. We don't miss a Nola Mardi Gras parade. Daughter marched in HS band/dance team.

Historical safety has never been good and saw noticeable deterioration in FQ twice in June. All to say, still uniquely great city but watch yourself 100 block of any street FQ and very late evenings. Canal St. adjacent to FQ is bullets waiting to happen after midnight.

Double Tree downtown, Hilton, Hotel Intercontinental are my go to downtown hotels, when Monteleone is booked. I did recently do Windham on Royal but 100 block of Royal full of vagrants.
