LOL at all the uninformed theories.

It would help if you actually knew how Besh's restaurants ownership structure looked before making assumptions. Besh doesn't put up the money, he has a deep pocketed investor who does, and Besh gets a piece. Same applies for all of the spin off concepts from guys who worked for Besh.

It ends up being a crappy deal for the Besh apprentice once he/she gains success. No surprise Shaya wants out.

You're full of shite. Besh has always pimped his German heritage. It's no secrecy that his hiring of chefs at Luke has always been less influenced by their cooking skills as it has their understanding of Mein Kampf. Alon for years ignored these murmurings and just concentrated on the food. After Besh in a fit of rage rounded up the entire staff of Shaya, herded them into the blast freezer and locked the door the reality could no longer be ignored. Every man has his breaking point.

I'm sure there has been quite the fuhrer over this.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. Classic protégée leaving the mentors nest. It's the next logical move for both and probably good for both and is just up to the attorneys to negotiate the exit.

He recently sold La Provence, maybe he's just looking to have fewer irons in the fire.

Alon Shaya replaced as executive chef

I guess this is part of the plan, but still interesting.

Wonder if Shaya is just looking to become the owner of his own place solely, exit Dominica/Pizza Domenica and grow somewhere else.

FWIW, the past few times I went to Pizza Domenica it left much to be desired and their FOH team is awful.

also Alon has been traveling a ton doing popups and demos nationwide.

This. That kind of exposure cost money. I wonder if he started eating away at his profits?....

Just looked over one of the facebook post about this from Gambit or some other similar entity. Some woman was claiming she's heard of several instances of sexual harassment type issues with Alon.
Take it for what it's worth as I have no clue if it's true.

It's a Facebook comment. I wouldn't read too much into it.

There's no sexual harassment. Alon is no longer part of the Besh group. He basically got fired as an operating partner. Zach Engel got promoted to Executive at Shaya. They did all this in less than 24 hrs. There's a lot more that will come out. Alon's trying to buy Shaya away from Besh and open his own Shaya Restaurant Group; but Besh probably won't sell his majority share.
