As soon as I jane he was using frozen waffles, I knew he was the one going home. What a dumb move.
Isaac had a good showing. I was worried about the chop suey. I figured the gumbo would get him through to next week, but not win it. I think he was pretty close to the top though.

I liked Kwame, but if I went to a restaurant, ordered chicken and waffles and got a frozen waffle, I would be pissed. The whole fast casual concept is built around getting stuff that's a cut above fast food -- places where they bake their own buns, make sauces in house, cut potatoes and make fries from fresh potatoes and not frozen ones. I mean Marjie was making fresh pasta.

He doesn't really need to. Sticking to his roots. You need to have his meat board with me. It is out of bounds. His place is awesome. Plus, he is the only guy left who actually OWNS his own place. He is the only guy who doesn't work for someone else.

I get it, I'm sure his food is fantastic. I just wanna see something other than fricking stews and braises like he has done every week. Aleast Jeremy-brah utilizes more technique and diverse flavors with his weekly crudo

Isaac is sticking to what he knows, which gets him by but will keep him from winning it.
I prefer challenges where it's strictly what's the best dish, not coming up with a fast casual business plan, etc. I don't think Cajun food really translates to fast casual, so I was a little worried for Isaac (I don't think gumbo as fast casual is a very good idea). I probably would have tried po boys?

And to get philosophical, what's the better chef? Someone that does 1 thing/cuisine awesome or someone more well-rounded? For the show, it's the latter, but the former can be meta (e.g., Jiro).

In the end, Jeremy had a terrible concept and Kwame went home because of the food. The concepts are there as part of the challenge, but the loser always goes home because of the food.
Best line of the show came from Kwame:
"It says organic on the box so it has to be good" then he smirks.

No doubt, and probably will be his undoing on the show. However, as a consumer, give me the person who does one thing at an elite level.

Interestingly Isaac doesn't say anything about this. Likely because the editors are doing it to rile up folks like you.
But even if not, so what if she is "mean" to him? I'm pretty sure he can handle it....if he even notices. From what I can tell, chefs are pretty "mean" to everyone.

I know he can handle it. I just think it's funny. Most chefs that talk shite can back it up with their food but she hasn't. One of her two wins was a dessert and the other was a piece of halibut.
