New Orleans Monthly Dining List

The wife and I, and my sister in law and her husband, have been talking, for a while, about going to New Orleans at least once a month and eating at a new restaurant. As we have both had babies, it's been a little tough to do that, but as the they are nearing a year old, it's much easier for the grandparents to watch them. That being said, give me recommendations of must go to places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As of now, my list looks like this.
Commander's Palace (saving for a special night)
Antoine's (saving for a special night)
Restaurant R'Evolution (went once for brunch want to go back for dinner)

Luke (went once for b-in-laws birthday, want to go back)

Rue 127 (went once with wife's cousin. Really enjoyed it)
Pizza Domenica (if this is the one in the roosevelt, i've eaten there a couple times for a quick bite, but never really had a chance to enjoy it)

Scratch Antoines, Saveur,Le Foret, K Pauls, Dick and Jennys, and Wood Pizza. I personally did not have a good meal at R'evolution and did not like it at all, but I am in the minority on this board.
Have you been to Kin, Coquette. La Petite, Boucherie, Patois, Tan Dinh, Nine Roses, Toups, Cafe Degas? Breakfast has never really been my thing but Steins, Russells Marina Grill scratch that occasional itch.

Once the temperature drops to livable levels, a lunch on back patio of Lilette is probably one of New Orleans' best ways to spend a day.

Why? As i've said, i've eaten at Dick and Jenny's, Wood Pizza, and R'evolution and loved all 3.

Saveur is another Dominique's retread. He has had about 5 versions of the same restaurant (Appoline, Tamarind, Dominique's (version 1 and 2), and now Saveur). If history is any indicator there will be another one.
Antoine's is simply bad food at high tariffs to tourists in shorts and flip flops who want a salad with dressing on the side. It is just sad. The bar is pretty great though. But if you want to drop some coin and eat overcooked fish, poorly fried potatoes, and sauces loaded with cornstarch, be my guest.
Le Foret was fantastic when they had Jimmy Corwell at the helm, but he left years ago and the GM left recently as well.
K-Paul's is ok, but I just dont find the cooking to be very solid anymore.
Dick and Jenny's is going through a transition right now as the folks who used to own Martinique and own Christiano's in Houma (or wherever it is) took it over. It looks to be shifting Italian. If you want Italian there are a lot of other places to go.

I dont mean to burst your bubble, but since you mentioned kids in the picture, its going to be years for you to get through that list. But happy eating!
Of course a lot of those places are kid friendly if you get itch to bring them with you.

Like i said, we are going to try and do this once per month. We have 2 sets of grandparents that are more than happy to watch our little man any weekend.

Ahh, good for you.
If you ever do bring him along, breakfast at Steins or District Donuts and then the zoo is a good bet for a Saturday morning. Then Comoany Burger for lunch. Aquarium in afternoon and then hit Peche/Tan Dinh/loads of other spots in late afternoon before heading out of town.
Not a bad little Saturday.

Unless that occasion is a post-funeral dinner marked by solemn silence, I would skip Antoine's entirely. All the other places you named are worth visiting, although as Blackedout said, there's a distinct chance Saveur won't even be open by that time. I did go to Saveur and enjoyed it, not to mention it was very busy, but that guy just doesn't know how to run a business apparently.

Lilette has a back patio? I've eaten here numerous times and I never knew this. I was there Saturday for another great lunch.
