Also from the same folks who opened The Office, Restaurant IPO opens in June as well on 3rd st.
My guess would be that they intend to entice their target customers with these premier wines:

Not really sure of the details....some guy has been pimping it out pretty hard on fb. Looks like it is open, but the grand opening is this Friday. It's on the corner of Main and Lafayette, beneath Azteca's
TD.com's own ctullis I believe.

I'm hoping Restaurant IPO is open for lunch. We can use more options downtown. They're also doing something to the Chinese restaurant next to The Office. It was gutted a few weeks back. Saw them bringing in some flooring last week.

That place is gutted every 6 months. Chinese. Sushi. Chinese. Sushi. Chinese. I wonder what's next?
As for the new City Bar, a quick check on the Lafayette location's Yelp and it looks like I won't ever step foot in there when I'm around town, but whatever. I like Red Star and the gay Hound Dog though, so I seem to be in the minority downtown.

I can't stand to step foot in this place because I know that if I want a beer it's going to take me a good 10 minutes to get one because it's totally overcrowded and god forbid I've gotta take a piss because it means I have to manuver my way through the crowd. Speaking of the crowd, its full of duche bags, frat boys and barely legal bar flies. Some of the low life guys are just standing around waiting for someone to look at them wrong so they can act like they want to fight until their friends just hold them back and whatnot. Unless you're the type of person I mentioned you can find somewhere else to go.

Come to this place if you want to wait forever for your drink in a sea of Ed Hardy and Affliction shirts.

Blend will be a wine bar on the corner of Third & Laurel.
I thought there was already a wine bar downtown? Did it close?

City Bar is terrible. I don't mind a night out with the girls at The Office, but I'm 21.. sooooo.. yeah
Most of downtown is shitty to me. Love me some Red Star as well.

Few months...maybe the start of the year. The Wine Loft sucked donkey balls. It was laid out funny and the staff didn't know anything about wine. Plus, they had a strict dress code. My fiancee and I went there once after Live After Five and they got on her, because she was wearing sunglasses up in her hair. They wouldn't let another friend in because he showed up after soccer practice wearing flip-flops. The guy -- a big shot in the business community -- went home and returned wearing a tuxedo with flip-flops.

Thats awesome. I hadn't been the Wine Loft in years. The lay out was funny, and it was expensive as hell....

I used to work at The Office and they are renovating downstowns where the alcohol used to be stored. Putting in taps and will be a restaurant that's open for lunch. That was the plans last time I spoke with the GM a few months ago. I've also heard that someone has bought the former Wine Loft location and plans to open a bar there

Me either. Here's my problem with it. They had a shitty beer selection. You can argue that it's a wine bar and they didn't have to have beer at all, but if you're serving to an up-scale clientèle, at least give me one or two "up-scale" beers to drink while I'm there because my girlfriend dragged me there. Say for example, Enoteca Marcello at least had handful of decent beers when I was in there once.

Here's another good Wine Loft story I heard from a friend who dated a bouncer there...they only wanted attractive single women, or groups of attractive women, sitting in the tables by the window. So if you were with your wife or girlfriend, you got stuck in the back. And the bouncers were told if women were drinking by themselves at the bar, to go up to them and start a conversation in order to keep them there and attract men their way.
