I hate to do this because I dont like sounding like a clueless tourist, but....

I will be in New Orleans for 2 days and 2 nights next week for work. The nature of what I do means that work will be short and I will have extra time to play.

Staying in the CBD and have been to New Orleans several times, but always with a local guide. Looks like I may be by myself this time, so I was wondering if anyone had good non touristy suggestions for me on food and drink.

I am open to whatever type of cuisine and I have a love of dive bars....the key there is picking the best of the diviest.

I appreciate it!

Seither’s Seafood if you don’t mind the drive to harahan. It’s worth the trip. Dive bar atmosphere incredible food.

Primarily dive bar for drinking only, but if there is really good bar food, I am game.

Snake and Jake's will in the running for the best, but I wouldn't send anyone there.

Mayfair, Milan Lounge, Kingpin, Brothers 3 on the list of places I would send someone.

Avenue and Barrelproof are fancy dives near downtown. Chucks is walkable from the CBD.

I second Brothers III. A friend of a friend was shooting pool there one day and he ended going up against Bob Dylan.
It's on Magazine so you're near a lot of good eating places.

Would try to sit at a bar at one of the many restaurants along that stretch of Magazine then end up at Brothers 3, Le Bon Temps, Kingpin for drinks and then uber back.

Restaurant options would be Cavan, Lilette, Shaya, La Petite, Baru, Saffron, Apolline, Upperline (same area), Bordeaux, Casamentos

I would suggest Peche in the warehouse district for lunch or dinner or even snacks. Peche has "snacks", small plates and entrees. You can make a meal of snacks even.

If you like raw oysters, they usually have some great choices. The smoked tuna dip is delicious. The fried bread is addicting. I love the hushpuppies and the spicy ground shrimp and noodles. The soup options are also good. Their seafood bisques are delicious and the gumbo is good as well. I also like the catfish with pickled greens in chili broth.

The whole roasted fish is fantastic, but it's really meant to be shared.

If there's a special entree, take a look. The ones I've had have been excellent. The shrimp with sticky rice and coconut is another good entree.

Fried brussel sprouts and brabant potatoes a good sides.

You can try to grab a seat at the raw bar or get a small table for yourself. It's a lively place and not awkward to be there alone. I've seen plenty of singles eating there.

Bon Ton for a lunch. Herbsaint for a dinner.

I was thinking food, not dive bars. Carry on.

Bob Dylan was in NOLA for a gig and he was hanging out at Brothers Three, shooting pool.
It would have been hard to keep my shite together if Dylan was hanging out.
