Need help with a childhood cookie

Trying to remember the name of these cookies I used to eat as a kid. It was a small solid brown cookie about the size of a quarter. The taste was sort of like a gingersnap, but different. They had raised ridges on the top in a swirl pattern and came in a bag. Thats all I got!

What time period are we talking about? Keebler vanilla creme cookies had a swirl pattern on them so maybe it was made by them.

Probably early 90's. The cookie was just a plain brown cookie, no filling

I vaguely remember a cookie like that but no idea what it was.
But I do love gingersnaps. They make a great fruit pie crust.
Might buy some today and a box of Vanilla Wafers too. Maybe some Fig Newtons.

Can't help you, but did you ever stop to think it's odd that we cook bacon, but bake cookies?

I'm not familiar with the cookie that you are looking for. However, I am also looking for a child hood cookie. These were devils food cookies that came in a red and yellow package. This would have been in the late 1970's or early 1980's. The only devils food cookies I see now a days are the Snackwells cookies which are no where near as good as these cookies.

That's gotta be the old Nabisco devil's food cookies.

That's it! I haven't seen them in years. I guess they don't make them anymore?

Baking bacon and cooking cookies sounds funny. I say frying bacon, though.

I remember almond cookies.
If anybody has a recipe, I'd like to try them.
Just to be sure, were these the ones that you'd lay out on parchment paper and bake? I remember them being pretty thin and really crispy.

I frequently cook my bacon in the oven

I still buy those thin rectangular almond cookies. I can't remember the brand right now. I love them.

Do you know of a recipe for some homemade almond cookies?
I was hoping you'd chime in.

From the wife:
Almond Sandies (Shortcake cookies)
1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons almond extract
1/4 cup coarsely ground pre toasted almond slithers
2 1/2 cups AP flour (sifted)
Toast almond slithers in a hot skillet for 30-40 seconds. Keep them moving when in the skillet. Try to remove them before they brown. Remove and cool, then grind in a food processor or spice grinder until the consistency of sand.
Cream butter, sugar and almond extract until light and fluffy.
Sift in flour and ground almonds and mix with spoon until fully incorporated. Divide and roll into two logs about 2 1/2 inches diameter. Roll in plastic wrap and chill for two hours in refrigerator.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Cut cookies 3/8 inches thick with a sharp dampened knife.
Cook on a lightly greased cookie sheet or on silpat sheet. Remove when edges begin to brown at 25-30 minutes. Cool on wire rack and store in a sealed container

Thanks MD,
Need to get one of these. This is the cookie I remember. My grandmother's sheet was red. I'll never forget that cookie. Delicious.
I'll make them and post pics. Thanks again.

Sorry. I'm not a baker at all.

Neither am I. But man, these cookies are awesome.
I'm gonna try them this weekend. Might try to substitute the sugar with some stevia.
