Playing tourist tonight with this girl I just started seeing. Not trying to do anything really expensive (really the dress code bothers me more than the price). Plus it's Saturday night and I have no reservations.

Anyway I eat all over the city, but rarely in the FQ, I know Verti Mart, Angeli's Pizza and a couple of hole in the wall places. Also know of nicer places such as Muriel's and Stella I also have a few places I bring friends and such on Bourbon. But really I'm looking for a smaller, less well known venue in the quarter.

We are doing a ghost tour (her choice not mine) and need to be around St. Louis at 8, so something in that area preferably. FDB has come through before, so I ask again.

Looking for a place with $20-25 entrees, decent turn-around and close to the center of the quarter.

Mainly want to try a new place, even if it is "expensive" throw it at me.
TIA

Adolpho's is casual reasonable Creole Italian above the Apple Barrel bar.

Adolpho's @ 611 Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 948 - 3800.
Apple Barrel Bar @ 609 Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 949- 9399.

Italian Barrel is outstanding.

Italian Barrel @ 430 Barracks St., New Orleans, LA 504 - 569 - 0198.

Quarter is packed today, so good luck.. Try Coop's, Nola, Maximo's, Italian Barrel (this might be your best bet, and it has a few outdoor tables).

Very familar with this place, but its in the Marigny. I went on a Thursday last time I went and had to wait an hour and a half for a table and no reservations accepted.

The quarter may be "packed" but its the least packed it's been in a few months IMO.

Never tried Italian Barrel, may be neat..

Looks perfect and such a variety, this is the kind of place I need to check out.

Did you like it?
(dumb question, lol if you didn't doubt you would suggest it)

Any recommendations. It's so tiny, I will try and get there 20 minutes before they open to grab a spot. But I think we are going there.

why don't you see if Stanley's is open? It's literally caddycorner to St. Louis and is fairly cheap. I know they are open for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Just never been for dinner.

eta: nevermind, they don't have a dinner menu. But they serve breakfast/lunch till 10pm. I know what you could do though, tell her after dinner ya'll can go get dessert from Stanley while waiting on the ghost tour to start!

Me and my friends almost took the ghost tour one time until we read the following review on Tripadvisor and determined the Vampire Tour might be more up our ally. I'm Rick James... scroll down past my review to see the I'm Rick James review. You'll probably end up at Lafitte's so he can tell ya'll the story of Lafitte's ghost haunting the bar.

Stanley is good, but they don't have entrees only sandwiches and stuff like that.

I've only been twice. I enjoyed the oyster delacroix one time and the andouille crusted fish another. Had some cheese samples for an app.

I think they have a tasting menu, which may be good for a date.

Nola at 534 St. Louis. It's one of Emeril's restaurants but a bit easier on the budget than the flagships. Location is right too.

I take that back about easy on the budget. Looks like their prices have gone way, way up.

I wanted to do the Vampire tour as well, but she wanted to do the Ghost tour.

A lot of good suggestions, but I pulled the trigger on Green Goddess.

If it's too packed I have alternates in the area. I almost just went to Muriel's but I eat there almost every time I want something nice in the quarter. Maybe for the next date I will go to one of the nicer places. I'm just not into spending $200+ at Dinner if I barely know the person.

One of the best places I have ever eaten in New Orleans. Really enjoyed Dante's Kitchen recently too. Have heard great things about GG-let us know how it turns out.

I have been to Mr. John's and love it but unfortunately now I don't want to try Delmonico's because I know they prefer Mr. John's.

EAT Nola. Excellent food. Medium pricing. Great intimate atmosphere. Corner of Dumaine and Dauphine I believe.

ETA: BYOB no charge for the first bottle.

I would have suggested Green Goddess, as well. I haven't eaten there, but it sounds exacatly like what you're looking for.

Delmonico (no 's at the end. It's actually Emeril's Delmonico. ) is very good. Mr. John's is on my list to try.
