Agree. No one needs one. If it’s for a client, bring something else. If it’s for a kid, bake a different cake. Exceptions to this rule for the terminally ill. Everyone else can wait.

I would add it's OK to buy a king cake if you or someone you're close to is getting shipped overseas by the military or the Peace Corps. Or if they're going to be on board the International Space Station. Or the man is making them do time out of state.
If any of these circumstances apply, I have seen king cakes recently at the Airline and Burbank Rouses stores.

Found out Gambino’s has them year around in BR but need to call because they sell out frequently.

If you call and order one they can have it ready for you when needed.

Nobody has them out year around, but any proper bakery can make to order.
