So I looked through the other threads and most centered around food and wineries I have heard of (Caymus, Opus one etc.).

I am coming to the board for a suggestion for two wineries that specialize in Cabernet (can be Bordeaux style or single grape). The current itenirary is:

Day 1: don Chandon and Maisonry
Day 2: Spring Mountain, Cade and [open]
Day 3: Gemstone and [open]

I have thought about Cliff Lede (really want to try poetry and try and buy a songbook if they have one) and Tuck Beckerstoff. I am open to anything, doesn’t have to have an amazing view or anything just kick arse wine.

Full disclosure: i am no wine expert but I found the Frank Family Vineyards wines in Calistoga to be very nice.

Check out Spottswoode. Great cabs.

Frank Family is good. I think their Chard is the best bottle though.

I wasn’t impressed with Masonary in Yountville. I found that they were more focused on decor and art than wine. Cool place though.

Try Jessup across the street. Great Cab.

Joseph Phelps was impressive and great wine- appointment needed. Do the terrace tasting and be sure to try Insignia. It is the only one of about 9 I visited that I wouldn’t miss going to again if I’m in Napa. Of all the ones I visited, I would not go to Chandon again.
Did not visit Caymus, but they make great wine.

If you want Cabernet, Jordan is the GOAT.

Also, try Peju

On Mountain day, give Robert Keenan some consideration.

Start off a day with Failla's spotlight tour. Great pinots and chards. We are members there.

Consider going to Young Inglewood. Fantastic, balanced wines. We are members there as well.

Don't miss Larkmead. Can't afford to be members there
Larkmead will likely waive your (expensive) tasting fees with a single bottle purchase.

Spottswoode also shouldn't be missed. Fantastic tour, very limited - I think they can host 40 or 50 people weekly. Get a spot early. Love their wines.

I have plenty more recommendations, these are just the top few. Let me know if you'd like more.

Round Pond is an awesome cab. Ask to taste their Gravel Series.

It’s next door to Caymus and so much better. Caymus was grossly overrated and won’t go back.

For Cab, Louis Martini. They specialize in Cab. Try the Lot 1. It’s fantastic.

Silver Oak is a good suggestion. I'd also propose Sequoia Grove.

I have been to Frank Family and it is great. I think their new/remodeled tasting room should be open now as well.

Yeah, it is the couple we are going with’s suggestion. I’ve never been. They seemed to have some decent wine to buy so we shall see. Will keep jessup in mind though if it’s a bust.

Will take a look, we are really into the mountain/volcanic reds right now.

Will take a look at Larkmead and two votes for Spottswood. Will keep all on my list and if we can’t make it to all of them can always try and find them at a restaurant.

Jarvis is at cave level with their wine that does not need any artificial adjustment and Palmaz has science behind their barrels.

Go to both , trust me.

You have to schedule/get reservation for both tours.

Yeah, I mean places like don’t get their name/brand for having bad wine but unless you are drinking out of their reserve wines I find some of the more widely available brands to fall flat. But I’m also not exactly some expert so just could be my bias against it.

Rombauer Winery in St. Helena. Located on the Silverado Trail north of Napa. Best wines in the area in my opinion. No food is served there but they do have nice views and a tasting room and a drinking area. I highly recommend.
