Since I have been traveling to different places interviewing, taking care of different things, I have tried out a few places on shrimp (since I shrimp poboys are my favorite) poboys throughout Baton Rouge, Lafayette, & New Orleans. My reviews since I'm bored using my own rating system:

Baton Rouge
Sherwood Poboy- 7.3 out of 10
Bread- Soft Wayne's Bakery. Find it is good but prefer New Orleans style bread. 6 out of 10.
Shrimp- Medium sized and descently stuffed. Counted about 10-12 medium sized shrimp on a 7 inch. 7 out of 10
Breading- Found the flavor to be very good. Nice amount of seasoning. 9 out of 10

Lafayette
Old Tyme Grocery- 6 out of 10
Bread- Soft Langlinais bread. Same thoughts as above. Maybe a little better than waynes. 7 out of 10.
Shrimp- Medium/large sized and descently stuffed. Counted about 16 shrimp on a 10 inch. 7 out of 10.
Breading- Very bland tasting and tasted like straight corn flour with no seasoning. 4 out of 10.

Julien's Poboys- 6.7 out of 10
Bread- Similar to Old tyme. 6 out of 10.
Shirmp- Large butterflied shrimp but only 4 shrimp on my 5in poboy and my dad had 5 on his 5 inch. 5 out of 10. If they would have doubled the shrimp on the poboy, the score would have been way higher.
Breading- Breading was good and flavor was good just not enough shrimp. 8 out of 10

New Orleans
Short Stop Poboy- 7 out of 10
Bread- Leidenheimer bread which I love. 8 out of 10.
Shrimp- Smallish shrimp and was descently stuffed but definitel not overstuffed. 6 out of 10.
Breading- Didn't notice anything special. Was ok but didn't stand out. 7 out of 10.

Cast Net Seafood- 8.7 out of 10
Bread- Leidenheimer bread which I love. 8 out of 10.
Shrimp- Medium sized shrimp and overstuffed. Counted about 35 shrimp on my 10inch. 9 out of 10
Breading- Nice flavor but could have used a little more seasoning in my opinion. 9 out of 10.

Get one at Johnny's in the 1/4. Don't even tell them how you like it, just say shrimp poboy. It'll likely be the best one you've ever had.

Is it Wayne's bread? Did they tell you this? Makes me wonder if Walker location is using the same stuff. What I had from the Walker location was not Wayne's. It was more crisp not the soft bread I normally find in BR and it wasnt NOLA style either.

Metry Seafood used to make a pretty solid Shrimp Poboy. Anyone have one from there lately?

When I want a shrimp poboy, I usually go to Food and Spirits. The fried shrimp one is good, and the grilled shrimp one is just ridiculously amazing.

Actually Cast Net is one of the biggest shrimp users in the city for poboy type shrimp. That's why Picked them. Same thing for old tyme grocery in Lafayette. They used to go through a lot of shrimp and are a popular place in Lafayette.

I was just passing by shortstop on airline around williams around lunch time so I picked them. No special reason there.

Picked sherwood poboy because I live by there and julien poboy because I passed by there around lunch time yesterday on my way to New Iberia.

No they didn't tell me this but I used wayne's at my old place for a few weeks and also know that wayne's come in sizes of 7in & 14in which translate to their sizes they offer. Sure looked and tasted like waynes. I ate at the one on sherwood close to I-12. I could be wrong about the bread though.

Did this in my truck and not inside the place. Only reason I did it was cus I might end up back into the restaurant business. Was just curious and doing a little research.

Thats why Im curious. Po-Boy I had in walker had a crispness to the bread. Which I have never found in Waynes bread. I'll have to get one from the Sherwood location to compare.

Still want to try a few more in NO. Was thinking of parkview, R&O's... Not sure what else to try. Tried johnny's about 1.5 years ago but don't remember the details that much.
