Buddy of mine from work is coming down at the end of the month to do a little car racing. He always ask me about places to eat, He will be there for two nights, i think the last weekend of the month.

I trust this bunch on food, so was hoping y'all could throw out a few places worth trying,

Thanks!

Only one I've ever eaten at was Cotton's. Food was good. Spent one night in Monroe on a drive back on vacation and visiting Poverty Point earlier in the day.

Parish is the best restaurant in town (known primarily for their seafood). Doe’s for steaks. They can be expensive though.

Make reservations for both of them.

Parish and Doe’s are both very good at what they do. Parish is an excellent choice for fantastic dining.

What type of food does he want?
Except for on a Sunday night, the area sports a wide array of good food.

Depends on what kinda guy he is and what he wants? Wanna drink beer and get some good apps? I’d send him to trapps. Good bbq? Send him to Jac’s. Good seafood id go with warehouse or waterfront. (Catfish Charley’s or catfish cabin if he didn’t care about atmosphere)
Catahoulas is a fun atmosphere but I wouldn’t go there expecting anything to knock your socks off.
Family fun, I’d go with Surge. My kids love that place and the food really isn’t bad.

Thanks for the info, guys!

He is more of a chain type place guy. He will venture out on occasion though.

Parish, although would be right up my alley, looks a little too swanky for his bunch!

I'm thinking Trapps may be the spot for him. Looks just nice enough and the menu looks pretty basic.

He’d like Clawdaddy’s up 165 toward Sterlington. Catfish Cabin in town would be a good place, also.

Is Mohawk Tavern still a good choice? I recall eating some good meals there years ago. Casual, old school seafood place.

Yes. It's still a local favorite.

Genusa’s is a very good restaurant. I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned.

Just eat at Johnny's Pizza or Magic Grill and call it a day.

Waterfront is my personal favorite for evening dining. It can be really nice in Spring and fall eating outside.
