Mellow Mushroom on Johnston and Doucet Road, set to close.

Lafayette really is saturated with good local pizza shops. And this location is a restaurant graveyard.

All closing:

Mellow mushroom
Guidry's reef
Country cuisine
Hurricane wings

None of these that surprising tbh.. sucks to see restaurants closing though

Country Cuisine is closing? I used to eat there regularly back in the day, that place was great.

Not really surprised about Mellow Mushroom, that building is a death wish. Coupled with Lafayette already having local pizza places that are better, I'm surprised they've lasted this long to be honest.

I ate there almost exactly a year ago when my mom was in the hospital. That place was a ghost town.

If you want a business to fail, open it in that building.

Remember when MM opened? You couldn't get in that place! It stayed that way for a while.

I went there a couple of years ago and it was deadly silent. Most of the others I've been to (Mobile, Pensacola, Spring, Huntsville) have been fairly busy.

Does anyone know if the franchisor is local to Lafayette?

Went once, both appetizer and pizza were under cooked. Dough was soft, like an open can of biscuits and not edible. They comped the app but not the pizza. We didn't expect it, or ask for it, but when the waitress asked about the pizza we told her it was as bad as the app. The place was a strange set up as well. It was hard to tell if it was a wanna be bar for the college crowd or a place to sell to families who actually have money ? I'm surprised they lasted this long.

Good place, family having health issues and too hard to keep it open.

Check the inspection ratings, "Dr. Chris" and family ran a rat nest.

Location was doomed to fail from the start. The 'patio' was in the parking lot facing Ambassador Caffery near the mall, in full sun with no cover ??? You can turn in going southbound, don't try it the other way, or try to get out other than southbound. I don't know who thought this was a good idea but they should lay a few coins on the Padres, just as good a chance at success.

Meanwhile, in the old Copeland's location (Fratelli's), there are four for sale signs. Three for the defunct restaurant and one on a used car parked there. Another doomed location.

All the ones in Florida are always packed. It's much bigger there

People in TX and LA realize it's an average overpriced pizza

Jennings ? I'll take the Rocket Drive Inn, great little place. I dated a girl from Jennings for a few years before I was married, we had many a burger and onion rings from the Rocket. Its been over 25 years, I hope it's the same b/c it was great?

Not surprising. Nothing has ever survived at that location or at the old Hops location.
