“MeatStick” thermometer owners - anybody’s cap come off? They are crawfishing

My neighbor has four or five MeatSticks, and he turned me on to them. I got one about six months ago, and on about the 5th use, the end cap came off the probe. The week after that, one of my neighbor’s probes cap came off. They both are the newer design.
He contacted them, and they basically replied that the probes cannot be used when searing the meat, the temperature is too high.
My neighbor looked all over their website, that is never mentioned, and even have videos of the owner searing a steak with a probe in.
They were about to not honor the warrantee until he brought up the videos and such.
I’m guessing the glue on the caps of the new designed probes doesn’t hold up well with high heat.
My neighbor has a few of the old designs, and they are fine.

So it sounds like everything is resolved?

is your neighbor a woman who looks like giada?

its not the end caps that can't take the high heat but the other end that stays in the meat.
I assume you are talking about Meater?

Not sure yet. I haven’t heard back from them about mine

No, it’s called “The MeatStick”

So it's just like the Meater but from a different company. I've been seriously considering it. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

Get a thermapen. They are the best.

I have one of the early model meaters and it worked great for a while but stopped working

You might as well get a cheap one that lasts for a little instead of paying ridiculous prices for the same quality.

You talking about the instant read thermometer, or do they make a wireless probe now. A friend at work was bragging on his thermapen, how great it was and all. I brought my $9 Weber thermometer. We compared them, the Thermapen was a half second faster, and they had the exact readings. He paid $80 (or something stupid) for it. I bought my Weber thermometer at a garage sale for 25¢

a Meater, or meatstick, is a different product than a thermapen.
a Meater replaces a leave in thermometer with wired probes. Thermapen is just insta-read and not leave in.

I have a lavatools javelin instant read. It cost about $15-20 and i've been having it for about 7 years now. Works great.

I've had the Meater since it first came out and have had zero problems. It is great and I use it all the time.

My neighbor has both the old design and new design of the MeatStick. He has no problems with the old style. You can see the difference in the construction. The old style is better built.

Meater max temp 527F.
That shouldn't be an issue for me. Thanks for the heads up. Now I know which brand to choose.
