Masterbuilt
I haven't seen one of the charcoal gravity fed grills but I got a propane smoker from them as a present and it was the biggest POS. All the coating came off the metal and the hinges to front door of cabinet failed early on.

I have the original masterbuilt 560. It makes great food and is super versatile. I do reverse sear steaks on it at 250 and crank to 650 or so for a sear. Gets up to that temp in about 4 minutes. If i was buying today, I'd go the 800 (wasn't available when I bought). I don't think these things are as well built as a weber, but if you keep under cover should last a few years. Mine is about a year and a half and going strong.

the char griller looks to be a pretty solid build and I think masterbuilt has fixed a lot of their issues since the first models of these

Video I just watch might've sold me on the MB1050

Got the 800 coming next week, went with it over the chargriller for the griddle

Any advantage to the 800 other than the griddle? I’m looking at the 560 since I’m not cooking for a crowd.

My 800 is a little over a year old and I have had zero issues other than a switch problem when I first got it. The switch for the ash pan was set a count hair too far back and it wouldn't recognize that the door was closed so the fan wouldn't kick on. Customer support sent me out another switch ASAP but I just rigged it by putting one of those sticky felt pads you put on the bottom of a chair leg on the door contact. Problem solved and I have a backup switch now.
It works perfectly as a smoker or grill. I can go anywhere from 150-700. The griddle is perfect too. I recommend you get a cover for it since you got the 800, even if it is in a covered patio. Wind can still blow rain in and you don't want that griddle rusting up on you if you haven't used it for a couple weeks.
I want to say the 560 doesn't have the foldable shelf in the front of the grill.

Did you get any of the mods ?

Had my first issue this weekend. It simply stopped heating. I was away from home, so could not fiddle with it. Turned out to be a tiny speck of charcoal stopping the fan. Once I turned the fan and restarted, it was all good.

I love mine, but I will say the quality of these is very subpar, but there is a way to deal with that. Use Brickseek and look for end of grilling season and clearing out old stock deals at Walmart on these. I got a 560 for $200 around this time of year.

Hell yeah man just catching up on this thread welcome to the club!
Like the others have said the quality of these is not of high end materials and probably will only last 5 years but then again it’s not my every day grill I still have the weber kettle that I use 75% of the time but those long cooks and that griddle definitely make this thing worth it, also definitely get the cover it’s of very good quality and will help protect
There are some pretty good YouTube vids on assembly and burn in seasoning also

Had my first issue a few weeks ago after about a year and a half. Lid sensor for the grill lid went out and I couldn't read the temp on the display. It still let the fan operate and everything functioned as normal other than it thinking the lid was open. Ordered a replacement switch for $15 on Amazon, installed it, and now it's good to go. No other issues so far.

If you want to get around that while waiting for a new part, just jumper out the switch with some wire til you get the new switch. I had a switch go out and just rigged a safety switch to the front that I can manually operate.

Well hopefully by the time this one craps out there will be more entrants into gravity charcoal space

No, I haven't bothered yet.
The only one I really want though is the cover for the fire chamber...or whatever it is called.

Just use aluminum foil folded over once, cheap and replaceable, unless you mean the liner part. I didn’t bother, just letting the firebricks do their job.
