I don't think it will be a noticeable difference.

I'm willing to try the new batch just to see if anything taste that different.

I'll still stock up on a few bottles of the old stuff.

Going from 45 to 42 % percent alcohol will allow them to sell about 7 percent more cases this year.

Nothing to sneeze at, but this is going to hurt their brand a bit.

On NPR yesterday they had a liquor marketing consultant on and he said he's never seen a self proclaimed premium brand do this before.

He used an example of when it happened to knob, they kept the quality te same, an sent t shirts to all distributors that said something to the affect of "I survived the bourbon shortage of 2009" and it went over well. He was Pretty confident this would bite them in the arse. Well see.

SO, the solution to keep up with increasing demand is to lessen the product? I hope they go under.

People still drink that shite?

I started drinking buffalo trace. It's basically the same price, cheaper in some places, and is way more smooth.

I'll be there in Loretto next month to tap my ambassador's barrel, I'll pass on the OT's disapproval.

This is my go to choice of bourbon. As long as the taste is the same I will be ok. I water it down myself when mixing soi will adjust a little or drink one more glass to acheive desired results.

Now If the flavor is off ill have to switch.

Most people pour it over ice or mix it. For those people, 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference if they didn't announce it or print it on the bottle.

Even if you drink it neat, most people couldn't tell the difference.

It might actually taste better.

I highly recommend you do so. I've been a bourbon man for going on 20 years and it is (in my opinion) the best bourbon hands down.

Does it really matter? Maker's is a mid grade bourbon that derives its demand from a fancy bottle and excellent marketing and distribution. It tastes decent, but there is a lot out there in the same price range that blows it out of the water.

Give it two weeks and no one will care that they watered it down a bit.

I prefer a different brand myself as I've said but figured there were others here who like it and would want to know.
