Eagle Rare and Maker's cost the exact same here, which has always confused me.

I'll have to do some side-by-side taste tests of the new product versus the old to see if I can tell the difference (yes, I generally drink my bourbon neat).

If it's a noticeable difference I'll have to make the switch.

Eagle Rare is a better bourbon than Maker's IMO

FWIW, I hear that several distributors will have to do this to their brands due to lack of supply.

The issue is that bourbon has suddenly exploded in popularity world wide.

See, people have always said that, and if I'm putting it over rocks I agree. If I'm drinking neat, though, I've always just preferred Maker's. Perhaps it's just familiarity or nostalgia, but it just tastes better than Eagle Rare to me. It's purely subjective and I'd never argue with someone about it, though.

So instead of making a quality product,

meh,Maker's has never been a great bourbon--just a fancy waxy seal and a nice looking label.

decent, not great.

Evan Williams Green is at least as good, and the plain ole Black isn't of significantly lesser quality.

I consider it a rather middle-of-the-road bourbon. I find it pretty good for Manhattans. For my taste, I have always liked the charcoal flavor of Knob Creek better. It is 100 proof. KC also makes a good single barrel reserve that comes in at 120 proof. I also just bought my first bottle of Booker's. I will try it out this weekend.
