You guys have any recommendations on good mail order steaks? Looking to get some for my brother-in-law for Christmas. I've had Omaha and wasn't terribly impressed with them. They were okay but nothing great. Are there any others that anyone here would recommend?

I order from Lobel's. Their products are excellent and my experience has been that their customer service is outstanding.

Snake River Farms is popular amongst the professional bbq guys. They have steaks.

1) Don't order the specialty stuff for everyday consumption.
2) It's Christmas
3) If you can't afford it, there's always Wal Mart.

I think Omaha steaks are horrible.
I've never ordered from the high end places, but would it really be that much better than prime strips or ribeyes from a good grocery butcher shop.
Or how would it compare to a prime dry aged steak from Whole Foods?

IDK how Omaha Steaks makes any $. Literally everyone I know thinks they suck, and anyone who's ordered from them has requested a refund.

I ordered some for family a year ago and was pissed when I saw what they sent.

Why mail order when you can buy Wagyu at Albertsons? I was rather surprised the other day to see a prepackaged steak labeled Wagyu for $40 on the shelves among all the other ordinary steaks. It must have been $80/lb or so. Perkins/Essen location FWIW.

For gifting purposes or cash in a gift certificate you received.

Butchery Fresh
I have a friend that does food distro and he posts a lot of pics using meat from here. Looks really good. Not sure how price compares with others.
Costco is also another option.

(2) 8 oz USDA CHOICE Top Sirloin
(2) 14 oz USDA CHOICE New York Strip
(2) 16 oz USDA CHOICE Boneless Ribeye
For $116
Prime at Costco would be more value.
That better be the best in the world. $64/lb for choice filet mignon

Trust me , Mcgonigles , Kansas City.
I grew up there and still buy meat from them on the holidays. Best Butcher shop I have ever been too.
They know what the heck is going on., they ship on Tuesday and it gets there frozen every single time on Thursday. great Meat and not cheap but not super $$$
