As a kid, we didn't eat out too often. However, my dad would love to take us to Luther's. I was much to young to remember the details of the beef ribs, I just remember getting them and the onion rings.

If anyone has any idea how they were prepared, I would love to make some for my Dad. I think it would make his day.

I'm surprised that the BR Chamber of Commerce hasn't reached out and recruited Rudy's BBQ to come to the area. They would kill it and during football season the catering they would do would be crazy. They came down to Lafayette at my suggestion and spent 2 days searching several sites. They told me that no 2 restaurants combined in there chain costed what 1 store in Lafayette would cost. Baton Rouge land is a lil cheaper that the land controlled by the cartel in Lafayette.

I always enjoyed Luther's. We'd go to the one by Belle Promenade Mall on the westbank b/c the movie theater there had some of the first stadium seating theaters in the GNO area. My little sister got pretty sick from some pork at that Luther's and to this day hates most BBQ.

In the late 80's, growing up with a single mom struggling to make ends meet, Friday night all you can eat catfish was the highlight of many of weeks for me. That catfish was the bomb.com also.

There was a short-lived outpost in Mobile. I recall they had a chili-cheeseburger that was outstanding.

The Luther's BBQ in Lafayette, isnt that the place where a member (or members) of the staff were herded into the walk-in cooler and murdered? Dont remember any details. Dont know if the perps were ever caught?

On Sundays, Dwights on Johnston serves BBQ plate lunches with all the extras. Phenomenal old fashion BBQ!

Rouses on Betrand might be the best local option at this point for BBQ?

Negative, best bbq in Lafayette can be found @ Blanchard’s on Pinhook

This is correct.

Johnson’s Bouc is fantastic too, but a little different style. I use Johnson’s sauce for my home sauce when I bbq.

Dwight’s is OK if you like Cajun style Jack Miller’s bbq, and cafeteria lady tater salad.

First place I ever had BBQ, don’t remember what it taste like now, but I loved it then. Definitely the place I owe for my love of smoking meats.

I believe the Luther's in Metairie on Severn burnt down and Outback Steakhouse occupies the site now. Besides the great smoked ribs etc. at Luther's they had a great root beer float in a big frozen mug for dessert.

Outback is next door. The former Luther’s fell in disrepair as an Asian Buffet and was torn down just a few years ago. The property is one the only developable chain restaurant sites in Metairie. It is currently for lease. I would love to see Chuy’s go there.
